Went drag racing once at willow springs for $15. :P
Not exactly tracking, but there's no turn around so you have to run a full lap after each run. Was pretty fun to be on an empty track at 9pm at night too. |

My biggest problem is finding the time. Just when I find a moment, I decide to take on another project.

I'm not sure I want to take my car to a track (at least with other cars on the track) since I'll be too nervous trying not to wreck my car. I'm thinking of trying autocross since they are more like time trials solo events. Never did any motor sport before in my life so I'm a little nervous about putting my DD in situations where I can potentially lose it but it seems like it would be really fun.

But for now, like others in this tread, it's autocross for me.

I agree, autocross is great, i plan on always having on my plate. I really credit autocross for getting the most out of the one track day i did.

I do! I did two auto-cross events last summer and finished 7th out of 150 for the novice class!! This car is just a blast to drive.
My car, my uncle's M3, and the two ladies I made friends with (Mini Cooper and 135i) Mine and my friend's old E92 335i (He just ordered his 435i m-sport)

I'll be attending a national event this weekend. At these events, depending on what you run, you can get contingency for winning. Anyways, like I said...it can get very competitive. I just got done with my first autox in this car... Ended up in 3rd, but was 0.4 seconds off of first. When you look at my time (61.000 seconds, you'll see that 0.4 seconds is literally nothing). This is what makes it fun: |

The biggest track day fear was car fluids on the track because of peoples poorly maintained cars breaking. In our group, a car overheated and had to be towed to the pits. In the advanced group a car hit a tire barrier at the end of the straight on the first lap because of a brake issue. I try not to have regrets in life, but one is not getting into autocross/track sooner. Do it!

Either mechanical failure, or driver (mostly driver error), damage to the car will happened. It is not a matter of if...more so when. This is a big reason why I decided to stop tracking the Z4M and move to the 128. If I had to choose, I'd rather throw the 128 into a wall versus the Z4M. |

Ideally i'd like to get a e90 m3 as a daily. That being said i do plan on trying to run autocross whenever i get the chance. Between my dual sport, motocross bike and other hobbies, i just don't have the time to dedicate to it yet.

Mechanical failures but no collisions or rollovers. Well one rollover but that was a 1200whp car on a rural airport runway. |
