Going backwards...I had to go back to polish out some haze!
Yes, after spending around 4 hours just waxing, I found a dime sized haze patch on my car's hood right above the left kidney grille. I created this problem...probably ordering the wrong clay. The clay I tested in that section was too abrasive..leaving me confused.
I noticed it @ night when I was finishing up the detail. I had just buffed off the hand-applied wax; Zymol vintage. Of all the waxes I own & easily the best stuff I own It was the ultimate failure to go back and start over in that section. I reapplied a Combo of paint cleaner, polishing compound, cleaner/polish, and a fine hand polish. Haze removed...but what a hassle. What a poor selction I made when ordering this clay. The car is in the garage awaiting tomorrow when I start re-applying wax to get back on track with the detail. I have some questions! ? What do I do? Could I re-apply the vintage wax on the section and try to blend the new wax with the already cured wax?? The wax on there now is detailed/worked over & cured. It has been on there for 2 days. Products used to date: 1.) Zymol Clear auto bathe 2.) Griot's Plaint cleaning clay 3.) Zymol Lehm Klay III (The small $42.00 clay bar that caused this issue!) 4.) Zymol Klay Lube 5.) Zymol HD cleanse paint cleaner (I've been using this stuff for 10 years!) 6.) Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #34 Professional Hi-Tech trigger wash 7.) Zymol Vintage estate glaze wax (Extraaa pricey stuff & the best wax I own) 8.) Zymol Detail wax (It's a topper wax for abs plastic areas to work hand in hand with the flex agents used in paint on plastic bumpers, rocker panel covers, etc. I skipped polishing the car due to the lack of knowledge on what polish is the absolute 100% best option for hand application. I wanted my first detail to be done in the process I normally perform on my E30. Hand applied-only products. I've always skipped polish when using my best waxes, Zymol Destiny & Vintage Never thought it was needed. When I use my Swissvax Onyx or Zymol creame I use Meguairs Mirror Glaze Polish #7, Show Car Glaze (2 coats) Removing the clay-created Haze/scuffing tonight I used: -HD cleanse -Car Groom cleaner/polish -Turtle Wax premium grade polishing compound -Meguairs Mirror Glaze Polish #7 (2 coats) The haze is gone...but so is my wax. Well, I'm off to sleep. Tomorrow morning will come quick and it's the last day before the Concours .

Well..I don't know and I don't have much time left, so I'm going to just apply 2 more even coats of wax and then follow up the polished section with 1 extra coating of wax.
It should just blend evenly. Atleast I'd think that it would be blended well. ? I didn't want to do this..but the haze was bad. I noticed the spot and kept dwelling on it...problem solved with the paint cleaner and polishes.

I don't think you'll have a problem just reapplying wax to the affected area, but then again I'm not familiar with the wax you're using.
I'm still stuck on the $42 clay bar!!!

The clay was a waste, the only Zymol product I've ever disliked.

Results were good. I waxed the entire hood and then decided to just add another coating to the entire body. I did make sure to double coat the polished area..so looks like the blending was a success.
The way I looked at it..I the entire hood received 2 coatings of wax...blended in. (I only used the fine polish & polishing compound on the specific area to remove the haze/fine hairline scratches!) No issues Concours was today. Had a great time and I won 1st place in my class.

Congrat's on the win. Clay marring is nothing new - as reason you really need to make sure to use plenty of lube and no pressure when claying a car that isn't set to get polished right afterwards.
Something that might help as well as a different clay bar. The softest stuff on the market is probably the Bilt Hamber clay that's not available in the US... which means shipping is costly - but in this case: i think worth it. http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/sho...?product_id=96 |
