Has your brake wear sensor ever ripped out?

I got an amber brake warning light on the way home from work and it took me a while to figure out what was causing it.

I finally discovered that the wire going to the rear brake wear sensor had sheared off from the plug which I couldn't even find anymore. I only replaced the sensor six months ago and it was an OEM sensor. The rest of the wire is in good condition and it didn't pull out of any of the plastic retaining clips. Something sheared it off and I have no idea how it happened. I'm guessing some kind of road debris. I also had an aggressive driving session right before this and if I didn't catch a little air, the suspension definitely reached full extension. I can't imagine that this would pull the sensor out and I think it also would have ripped out the plastic retaining clips if there was not enough slack.

Anyway, I just connected the wires and the warning light went away. I'm just baffled how it happened. I didn't see any damage to the brake line. Has anyone else ever had a sensor rip out?

Check your brake pad where the sensor was...is the little metal spring/clip still on the pad?
This happened on my front wheel. I spotted the sensor and wire hanging there inside the wheel before it got caught up in the works, and noticed the 'clip' was still in the slot on the pad. Had I not seen it, no doubt I would have soon had an amber too.

Ditto. I broke down and bought a pair off eBay, plugged them in and then zip tied them. They will never wear out! Let the next owner, or a junkyard scavenger use them for their intended purpose.
