A tune makes a good amount of difference even on the N55, check the COBB website or posts here for dyno results. Paired with the downpipe it is even better. I've unmodded the car and am selling, building another car.

No worries. Yes, It is unmarried and ready to ship. You would just follow COBB's installation instructions and install it on your car.

is the downpipe catless and will it throw a CEL without a tune?

Yes it is catless and yes it will throw a catalyst code without a tune. The COBB AP or JB4 automatically clears this.
