If these cows have shorter front legs to hill the climbs, how are they downhill them??

They spent the rest of their life at the top? ;-)

Epic!
You're so lucky to live near the A/CH border.
Hell, even the Bavarian roads are great.

Great! It reminds me of my trips i did before i started to study Some of those passes i drove also (specially Flüela Pass).

The name of your unknown pass in the video "unknown Swiss Pass... driving from Disentis towards Andermatt, Switzerland" is also Oberalp Pass . It´s very unique with the railroads parallel to the road near to the lake.

Wink Surprising!

Great tour, with incredible views.
It's fascinating resemblance to Germany, almost the same kind of house, vegetation, climate.
But only in Germany there is an Autobahn and you can run at 250km/h.
Switzerland is beautiful, has the Alps are cute but not as much as Germany.
For me, Germany is the world's most beautiful country, I would be there.
It's good that you enjoyed the trip.

Thanks/Dankeschön , Regards/Grüße , Freude am Fähren.

Amazing. Sounds like its time to get rid of that iPhone

I'm with you Brudder! I love Germany and I have voted with my feet to stay and live here. Plus it is so expensive in Switzerland compared to Germany. A 0.5L bottle of Coke here costs 1.20 EUR while in Switzerland it costs 5 EUR.

You also see it in the type of cars the Swiss drive. Always big HP cars with large engine displacement(cc). I think I saw like six Audi RS4's on one day there. You never see that over here in DE.

I remember once I ordered "Schnitzel und Pommes" (in Switzerland) and when I got the bill that meal cost me like 55 EUR! I was shocked. But we all have to go to Switzerland at least once in our lifetime. I think next time I will try to sleep/stay/eat in Austria and just travel thru Swiss during the daytime.

Thanks! I will update my video then. I seem to remember that name: Oberalp Pass.

First of all, many thanks for writing such a nice travel Report about my home place!
Things are more expensive here, but hey, you only live once :-)

I can agree that you can find a high range of big HP cars, but what the hell should we do with 50 hp on all those steep pass streets?

PM me if you come back. I take you for a beer in Zurich Area!

Now that's another great episode of "The Automotive Adventures of Dackel The Road Warrior" series.

Into the great wide open, rolling over giants' shoulders: what a fine way to free the mind.

Aweful Cement Jungle? 631 area code(maybe 212)? You are surrounded by world class beaches such as the Hamptons, Montauk and Fire Island. Farmland, wineries and cute little villages all over the place. Stones throw from the Catskill Mountains, Finger Lakes and Niagra Falls. Plenty to see in NY, you just have to open your eyes.

Awesome thread man and grats on making front page....again. I never get tired of seeing pics and vids of the Alps. But like many things over here you have to experience them in order to fully appreciate how great these routes are. This post gave me motivation to try and fit in one more alpine tour before the season is over....I have unfinished business with Grimsel and Susten passes.

I strongly encourage any of you guys taking European Delivery to schedule in a tour of the Alps. There are dozens of fantastic "top ten worthy" roads and passes to explore in Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and France so find a way and make it happen....you will not regret it! Of course if you can do it you should also try and do the Nurburgring and Black Forest routes too!

Dack, I really like the "no set agenda" approach you took with this trip. Sometimes its great to just get out there and drive and stop/stay whenever you feel like it.......the benefits of traveling alone. But at the same time.......when is our next Euro 1addicts get together?

^^Thanks Swadeness.

I think we should plan something for late Sept or early October - before the first frost/snow. I think the Alps should be darn gorgeous as the leaves start turning colors. But First comes the IAA(Frankfurt Autoshow) in a few weeks. Once the IAA is in the "bag" we can plan our "good bye Rick" event at the 'Ring and our fall time Alps tour. Man its rough living over here!

Great trip...

...did the same trip last year with two friends. We went to Davos and day one we did the Swiss tour (Klausen - Süsten - Grimsel - Furkas- Oberalp), the next day we went to Italy (Fluëlapass - Stelvio (Stilfersjoch) - Gaviapass - Berninapass - Juliënpass - Albulapass - Fluëlapass).

This year we had some difficulties getting togheter to go again. The Italian Alps should be the place to go to: Lombardei - Dolomiten - Süd Tirol. May be more luck next year.

The Alps are always superb to drive around!

Some footage and a short clip:

^^Nice! Yes, we did all of those Passes too on our Stelvio 2.0 trip his year. Gaviapass - almost gave me(us) a heart attack going up that narrow road with no to little guard rails. It was weird... down low it had all these nice guard rails where it was safe... but going near the top nothing!!! Made my heart skip a few beats.
