Take your time for the install. No need to take off the rear covers (but a bit painstaking for the hands though). Keep maximum clearance for the adaptive headlights motor (avoid the wiring and LUX resistor/power supply box from entangling with the adaptive light motor - choose a hazard free location). Check all the seals when clipping the rear covers back on, to avoid humidity from entering the headlight unit.

Kudos to Ruf for fixing this DIY job for me (and his wife for the moral support ).
No probs i'll have them installed in a jiffy cuz i'm getting so experienced in removing the backcaps. I'm sure you're familiar with the word (in flemish) "stonemule" wich in this case applies to moi

And yes R & L are nice folks say hello for me next time you guys meet

While waiting (endlessly) for the new batch of LUX 5K AE lights, did anyone try the BMS set? According to their web site info the price looks like almost half of the LUX, installation a breeze and more importantly they are available! Anyone has installed photos or experience with that alternative?

I have the BMS 4LED on my car, as I could not wait for the LUX. My friend has the LUX 6500K on his 1M. With the 2 cars parked side by side, the only difference between the 2, is in the brightness of inner and outer rings.. The BMS has a stronger and brighter inner ring, while the outer ring is not as defined. The LUX has a duller but constant brightness in both the inner and outer rings, also the outer ring is much thicker than in the BMS.. Over all a good product for the price, half of LUX.. and in stock. Sorry, no pictures to show, as pictures can not show clearly the brightness difference.

the color seems still different (more yellow) from the brow color, or is that an image misrep? What is the color temp of the brow again?

You're misled by that picture: the light cluster featuring on the left of that picture (right front - yelllowish) is stock. The light on the right of that picture (front left - white-ish) is LUX 5000K. The picture is meant to show the difference between the two. But believe me, it's quite hard to get a good picture of it (and I do know, because it's a picture of my car). In real life the eyebrow and coronas are in close harmony.

Thx for clarifying, I drew my conclusion by looking left only. Right looks quite matched indeed.

Color is perfect to me. But on the pic, you're right: I guess it's due to clipping (no detail in white). Here's a better one ...
I sure Artemis nows the color temp of the brow

I'm glad I hung onto my 6500k LED's. They are far from 'rice' as some have suggested. The match is closer than OEM and it all depends on the angle you are looking at them at, even with the 5000k.

original LUX 6500k

I don't have a 1M but I thought I'd share these pics anyways. Had the 5k version for almost 2 months. Finally got them installed this weekend. They really do match the brow.

We dont ahve a 1-series to test on so we are waiting to get pictures back from our customers that we have mailed them out to already. We have 8 sets of these going out in the mail today and should take 2-3 days to arrive. There should be pictures posted by the weekend.

As for price, they are the same price as the standard color which is also $245. The brightness is the same on these as well.
Hi I brought a 6k for my 1m early in the year, any chance of swapping them to 5k ones?

Cheers joe

We will address this for you and others when it gets closer to having the 5000k back in stock.
