getting my bad luck out of the way now?
So I'm driving up to Toowoomba yesterday to see clients, and cop a rock in my windscreen on the Ipswich Motorway.
Overnight with the low temp the windscreen cracks in a foot-long curve from the edge. My car is meant to change hands on Tuesday to its new owner, so you can probably imagine how happy I was about this. Anyway, Shannons is all cool and Windscreens Obrien has me booked in tomorrow to replace the screen. It's the second one I've had in the past 8 months, after none in 14 years of driving! |

Is that two windscreen claims in the same 12 mth insurance period?
My last car 05/330Ci got hit with a massive stone chip 2 days old on my way to having the exhaust modified..ruined my day.. |

Therefore, if I wasn't selling the WRX I couldn't claim for another windscreen until after May 2009. Cozza - I'll say the first bit of bad luck is missing out on the September delivery for my 135i |

I coped a big crack on my Land Rover a couple of weeks ago, need to put in a claim for that. Fortunately the LR is insured with NRMA, as I am already putting in a claim for my wallaby incident with Allianz at the moment - otherwise they won't want to insure me next year :0.
I wince every time a truck passes me in the opposite direction when I'm driving my 1er. And I say well back from vehicles in front of me until I am ready to overtake. That's the bane of rural roads I afraid.

I'm in the same boat. I discovered on Friday that our Volvo has a long dent surrounded by white paint and black plastic down the rear left passenger door and wheel. Some thoughtful person appears to have scraped it while negotiating a park in Jones Bay parking station while my wife was up there last week for work. Godammit! This is the FOURTH carparking incident my wife has come home with in the last 12 months! Two of them have been her fault, but it's still been a pain to sort out. I'll have to ban her from parking the 1er!

Friends of mine think I'm weird when I park my car way away from anyone else at shopping centres. I'd rather walk another 100m than get some knob denting the door.
I must say, though, that if I then had a $1 for every time I'd come out and find some heap-of-sh*t parked right next to it... Argh!

Funny thing though. We haven't changed our parking practices since getting the Volvo and within the 12 months we've had it, we've had two separate cases of others causing carpark damage. In comparison, during the near-on 6 years of MINI ownership, we've not had a single carparking dent. Maybe it's just luck? But I suspect there's also a difference in the level of respect you get from other people depending on the car you drive. Volvo? Bugger it, those bloody hat-wearers deserve some damage. MINI? Cool car, used to have an old one years ago, careful don't touch it. We still get young kids stopping and waving when we drive past in the MINI. It'll be hard to give that up when the 135i arrives, and I just hope it attracts similar respect in the carpark. Just in case, I'll be a lot more careful with chosing where it gets parked!
