i have them, (not CF, just red). i think they look good. others think it's too ricey. then again lots of people here have really dark tints, way beyond my perceived level of appropriate darkness, which i refuse to get because that's more ricey to me. each to his own. i say yay, but not CF ones.

1speedbike, since you have them, is there a noticable difference in the look/feel? I mean, can you look at it and tell there's a sticker? If you ran your finger over it, would you feel it?

How do they hold up after washing your car? Do they peel off?

they are completely flat, and very thin. i personally can't feel them by running my fingers over them, but my fingertips are also slightly calloused from guitar playing. if you set them perfectly straight, it is impossible to tell they are stickers unless you're REALLY looking for it and inspect them up close.

the hard part is setting them perfectly straight, since crooked roundels are not only tacky but give away that they're obviously stickers. the instructions suggest you use a knife to catch a little bit of the sticker, then use that to carefully place it, but i have incredibly shaky hands and it actually made it harder for me over my bare hands. i even had to get a second set because i fudged up a single roundel initially with no spares.

however, the bigger roundels (front and rear) are the ones you (and others) notice most, and they happen to be the easiest to line up. the wheels are slightly harder, and i found the steering wheel to be hardest of all because the roundel is so tiny. however, even with my horribly shaky hands and bad eyesight i was able to line them up straight. you can also press your finger and slightly stretch the vinyl (and i mean really slightly) to cover up the original roundel wedges if you're off by a tiny bit.

in terms of durability, they're made to last for years apparently. theyre water/soap/weather/dirt - proof; i've had them on for a few months now, and they look good as new, no movement or peeling at all, very high quality. at first, if you mess up you can peel it off relatively easily and try with another one (they give you lots of spares), but after a little while the glue really sets and you can't even peel them off with your fingernail without feeling like your nail's gonna break, even if you're really trying.

hope this helped, and while i might not agree on the CF, i'm sure many on here would disagree with my bright red, and these roundels in general, so do what you want, it only matters if you think it looks good

I have the bimmian overlays in black and I love them. They have been on my car for a year without the least bit of fading or peeling up. I don't, however, like the cf look...

If I was doing this I would go for a full CF roundel. Not a sticker. Leave the Blue and White? I'm going for a CF theme on my car and i'm going to be leaving the blue roundels in place.

Why so much hate on the CF stickers? LoL!

Thanks for your write-up, 1speedbike. I haven't committed to this idea yet, because I'm not sure what color combination I want.

So far nobody makes a CF roundel for the 1ers.

Mega Man,

I have these on my 1er. I think they look great. Certainly it would look better with real carbon fiber. But, if you put these on right, and don't half-ass the install, they can look really nice. Plus they have the added benefit of making 1 part of your car unique.

If you are coming by the BMW CCA event out @ California Speedway this weekend, try looking for me, I wold be happy to show you the stickers I have on my 1er.

Outstanding, xbook! Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be there!
You hit the nail on the head with your comment though: I was looking into the carbon fiber ones since there's not currently a CF roundel for our car.

It's my car afterall, I can "ruin" it with CF stickers all I want. Though, I would like to play around with the idea of different colors for a while.

It's great to know (you and 1speedbike) have both spoken highly about the quality of the product. For a while, I was worried they would be really easy to detect as stickers, or would peel off during a wash. I watched the video of them installing it, and even in that video you can see he didn't place it perfect (the grey horizontal line is slightly off).

I don't have much concern about different colors/material on the roundels. Early on I saw someone do wood and white roundels and they looked pretty sharp. I know the purists will object. It's kinda of like wearing a baseball cap of your favorite team, but in different colors. Can be cool, can be lame. Depends how you pull it off.

Elegance in Simplicity!
Starting to feel the same way about tinted windows too.
Ever see those Mecum Auto Auctions? The vehicles that get the most attention($$) are the ones that have the "least" amount of mods!!! Seems on classics mods reduce values.
Imagine seeing an original Shelby Mustang with altered colored badges and tinted windows?
Would you do it to your Ferrari?
It's a statement keeping things OEM.

Then again, you only live once, do whatever you want to it! And being that BMW has the only colored badge (I think), and all other automakers use silver, there's no harm in tweaking 1 element to make it fit the "color theme" you're going for. Mods are never an investment in a car, regardless. Never going to really add value.

I've got the graphite CF stickers on my SGM 1er... yeah, they're a bit tacky maybe but they'll hold me over until I can find a solid 1 piece emblem in the same color. I thought having all these different colors on my car was a bit much... bright red tails, orange reflectors, SGM body (with the "purple" sheen), silver wheels, blue emblems. Gah, just wanted to streamline the rainbow on this thing a bit! I'm only missing yellow and green!

I have these in dynamic CF black/silver... I was iffy about them for obvious reasons, but tried it and now i will never take them off.. The trunk roundel is glued on to the trunk, so I wouldnt feel comfortable switching it out for a different roundel (which there arent any that I know of yet for e82/88); I do have the true CF roundel on my steering wheel, though. I have to say, the overlays look really good, even compared to the full CF roundels i had on my E46.

A couple of notes. How good they look on the car is directly proportional to how well YOU perform the install. Its all on your shoulders, my man. If you do it right, you won't be able to know they are stickers. Shit dude, I did the one on my steering wheel. I look @ that thing every day, and still have yet to have it bug me. That being said, I have seen a 135 that did stickers, and they neglected to use the proper sizes. It made their 135 look like shit!! It was an SGM over @ Supercar sunday about a month ago. Yupp, that's right, I called you out, whomever you are...

Also, I did have one of the stickers peeled off by a dork @ Center BMW. Even though my car had SIGNS on it that said NO WASH, they still washed it. And during the wash or dry, one of the stickers on the wheel center caps came off. No big whoop, the Bimmian kit comes with extras.

Do it do it do it do it...

It's a good option if you want something easy to install. You need to be careful and patient when installing them to line it up correctly but once installed straight and flush, they look solid IMO.
