Mp3 automatically fast forwarding on hifi stereo

Car is a 2011 135i. Bought it new with the H/K hifi stereo. Always had my iPhone plugged in, but today I tried using a USB stick with around 6gb of MP3 on it. Most are 128k, some higher. The USB is a Sandisk USB 3.0 16GB, which I've verified to work fine in my 2015 Honda Accord hybrid. The USB was formatted fresh and the MP3 files are the only thing on it.

Essentially, when you start playing a track, any track, any bitrate, etc., it plays the first few seconds, and then starts just skipping through the song fast forward. It's like if you held down the forward button to fast forward through a song. You hear a sound blip every few seconds and it progresses rapidly through the song. All buttons and functions of the head unit and controls are fine.

Here is a YouTube video of what happens:

Ideas??

Thanks!

maybe pull off the steering wheel trim and remove and unplug the steering switch. I bet someone spilled a soda or coffee in the switch. You can buy replacement switchs. Just a thought.

Or try another "known" good USB stick that works in another BMW.

Garage List
Mine does that as well, but only when playing via Bluetooth audio. Did a hard reset on both the headunit and the device, and hasn't happened in months now.
