Opening Headlight Housings?

Does anyone know how to open them? I heard that the oven technique doesn't work.

Before Canucklion gets here and yells at you... it's been discussed. Oven is a no-go. No feasible way to open the light, and presumably, get the orange reflector out.

Some claim they can do it...

haha moocow, relax dude!

qwert, I remember some guy saying that it was possible (but he did it on other cars, never on E90), so far, the best solution is to buy the Euro-spec headlights, which will run you aroun 2k.

Impossible to open. BMW uses a special glue to keep everything together now. Its why they cut down on using nuts and bolts.

To change the bulbs you have to open the hatches on the back of the housings. To get to the low beams and turn signals, there is a door in the wheel well, and to get to the high beams, just go in from under the hood. (Check out your manual for more detailed instructions )

Impossible to open them. Tried it, failed, lost alot of money in the process.

Not only is the glue a special type that doesnt deform with heat in the oven (the actual plastic housing gave way before the glue did), it is also layered in a stepwise fashion in the housing seams so that you can't dremel them off or pick at them really. Its pretty much impossible.

Sorry

If I were you, Long, I would've bought the euro lights for ~$600 since yours are not xenon.

I negotiated $1,300 for the euro headlights. I didn't bit on it thought, cuz I still think its too high. Would still need to get xenon bulbs and harness, and god knows what to make the dde rings work? Maybe nothing i guess...
