Keep it under 4500 RPM and dont exceed 100mph for the first 1200 miles. Also try not to brake too hard and accelerate to rapidly for the first 300 miles or so. Other than that, go nuts!

DO Vary RPM...in-town driving is better than highway driving...basically my CA told me to drive how I'd in day-to-day routine...I am guessing he doesn't know me that well...

oh no, here we go again...everybody and their mom is going to have a different story and opinion on this topic and it was covered many times ( a search comes up with 30 threads). In short, to be safe follow bmw manual, but I didn't and never have.

I assume most of us that follow the break in procedures do it because we want to avoid spending most of our free time at the dealership, thats the reason I followed them. It didnt kill me to be more carefull with a brand new car.
I have step too and didnt shift it into DS or go past 80 untill after break in.

RTFM, then after break-in, slowly ease into more aggressive driving.

You can enjoy the car quite thoroughly during the engine break-in period.
The rules are simple: do not exceed 4000 rpm and try to vary the rpm as much as possible. I drove 1200miles without exceeding 4000 rpm - and spent half of my time driving at 100-110 mph. I varied the rpms a lot and didn't regret this "limitation" on bit. A 330i and 330xi will go ca. 110 mph at 4000 rpm btw (in 6th).
