It happened to me also and the frequency was up to once / 2 days. Since I got a software upgrade a week ago it hasn't happened again. Crossing fingers.

Error codes 112 and 116

I was also getting the "ELV Blocked move steering wheel" error.
I got the software fix today. They said they ran diagnostics and found two fault codes - 112 and 116.

Does anyone know what these error codes mean and are they related to the ELV Blocked error? Also, how do you determine what version of software you have? When I got my car back, all my radio presets were gone and the screen looked a different color (but could just be the brightness level). They didn't say they upgraded the software, they just said they reset it.

Thanks in advance.

If the colors on the home screen are really a different color, I think you got an upgrade. The last time I was in, they upgraded it and the home page colors were a silvery-grayish color after (there were blues and greens before).

At the time (in November), they said they had to upgrade it because there was a bluetooth issue. Every time I've had it in for service, they have done an idrive upgrade.

The service rep said all they did was upgrade bluetooth, but I don't think he knows. The biggest change this time was in Navigation -- map colors were different (distinct background colors to indicate town borders) and there was a general improvement in the readability of streets. Also, a few small improvements in Communications dialing/keypad menu. But if you already had a more recent version, you may not notice the changes since your version may be more current.

As far as I know, you can't tell which version you have. They have to read it with their equipment.

Thanks, the colors are definately different. I just couldn't remember the old colors until you reminded me. I also noticed the new dialing features.

We'll see if this fixes the ELV Blocked message.

Thanks for your reply!

Congratulations. You also now have a POI search feature on your nav.

I will have to play with it again today, but I had a POI search on my NAV before. However, I think this version is different. I used to be able to go to Navigation and then pick "On Location" and then somehow get to a POI list. I believe this version has this menu feature in a better location. I really only played with it for about 10 minutes when I got home from the dealer last night. I'll play some more today!

I've told my entire "ELV blocked" saga earlier in this thread.

It has stayed fixed since February '07.

I read through your saga again. It's interesting that it seems like getting the switch replaced fixed your problem. My receipt says:

"TEC CK OPERATION OF ELV. TEC CK FUSES POWERS AND GROUNDS AND RAN SHORT TEST AND FOUND FAULT 1112&116 STORED. TEC WORKED THROUGH TEST MODULE AND WS INSTRUCTED TO PROGRAM VEHICLE
GW CODE 105478061
6112550200
6100811(8),0000555(2),6199000(4)E "

The only thing out of that, that I found from google was this:
6112550200 ==> Bracket steering column switch (coil spring cartridge/ctrl unit steering column switch cluster SZL)

If the software fix doesn't solve the problem, I know what to ask for next.
Hopefully, this info can help others.

ELV Blocked

The software fix lasted for 2 weeks and then the ELV Blocked message came back. I brought the car back to the dealer today and they replaced the steering column. Hopefully this fix will work, since there's nothing else to replace or upgrade.
