OT: Which bike?

Apologies in advance, I know this is way OT for a 1er forum, but I'm interested in opinions from others that appreciate good cars & bikes, and the emotions associated.

I'm thinking of changing bikes later in the year, and wanted to get a few reactions. I'm going for a naked, and the options are:

Triumph Speed Triple (new model)
MVAgusta 1090 Brutale (I think this is the right picture, not the 1078)
Aprilia Tuono V4 (soon to be released)

Thanks guys.

Where are you going to get a 1090RR from? I am not aware that we have an importer now. You can however get a 1078RR very cheaply! $17k or something. S3 is great, but I still can't get used to the light. The winner? None of the above. Ducat Streetfighter ftw (ok I'm biased, I had one). Or the K1300R. Been thinking of that.

There's a new Oz distributor for MV
http://www.roadrider.com.au/Announce....aspx?ID=38787

But you do highlight one of the reservations I have about the MV. There's been more distributors in the past 5 years that I can recall. Only 2 dealers in Syd - neither convenient, nor big businesses (which probably means small spares Dept). And yes, the 1078's are very cheap right now.

I have tried the Duc, and awesome as it is, I constantly felt like I was going to fall off the front of it. Just didn't suit - but that's a personal thing.

Ahhhhh - the BMW. I wish. I just can't justify a $30K+ weekend toy. (Same would apply for the Duc) - The 3 I listed are all <$22K. In order, I think the pricing goes - S3 - MV - Aprilia. But it's only ~$3K top to bottom.

OT but I couldn't resist. Here's a file pic of an RC30. Mine is in a squillion pieces for a full restore.

One of the greats. Kind of like the Mclaren F1 of bikes.

Hey I just realised it almost matches my avatar's BMW Motorsport colours.

Depreciation on the MVs is savage. I've heard you won't be able to get a dealer to take it as a trade due to the reliability

Gazz, RC30! You are the man!

Bfi, the Brutale is pretty cheap for what it is I think! Hmm, where can I get one? Didn't see it at Peter Stevens. But my concern is that these guys are small importers. I would have been more comfortable if PS imported it for example. But if I had to choose out of the 3, I would still go for the MV.

Here is a little something about the Brutale. Did you know that the headlight is modelled after a 993?

Way - from this
http://www.mctrader.com.au/news-and-...eid/73188.aspx

It looks like Peter Stevens are still an MV dealer.

I'm not in a rush! In fact, if I wait until xmas or later, the S3 will drop in price due to increased supply. The Tuono will become available, so I can see and actually buy one. And the MV situation will have a while to "play-out".

Seems like the sensible thing to do - if sensible comes into the same discussion as buying a litre naked - what am I talking about - a litre naked is an entirely sensible purchase.

Cmon, this may be OT but you should at least be considering the roundel product

^I can't think fast enough to ride one of those. 142kw @ 204kg full weight. That's like having a 1000 kw 1M. Time and distance take on new meanings. What would 0 - 100 be on this? 2 secs?

Wicked colour combo with that styling.

How could you think anything but Ducati? I guess each to their own. Since becoming a parent we've sold all our bikes.

The Speed Triple is a really decent bike. I rode last the last gen model and prefer the round headlights to the weird oval ones this year. The Aprilia is also a great bike, have to do a little bit to the suspension to get it to turn A+. Only ever ridden on the back of a Brutale, but I dig the styling.
Also, I am super partial to the Ducati! New 1100EVO Monster coming out soon!

I love my Monster 1100. It's so playful and well suited to where I live. It also isn't going to throw you off the bike with a small twist of the wrist unlike my streetfighter. I haven't been following the 1100 EVO, so what is the difference?

Nice bike...but remember that damn things seat is higgggh compared to the others here...not to mention the premium on price.

He said we was leaning toward a naked bike so the proper one to show him would be the F800R:

That being said I am partial to the Triumph (I have a 2010 Street Triple R)...even journalists are hard-pressed to say anything bad about the Triumph nakeds....Here is a pic of me on mine...I love it:

The F800R is a bit slow for my liking, so I think the K1300R is the appropriate one.

As for your ST3R, I'm glad you have the Arrow 3 into 1. I can't stand the sewing machine noise of the standard exhaust.

Yeah I figured it was a bit slow..but I figured it fell in line with the naked/streetfighter styling. As far as my StripleR is concerned I actually have the Official Triumph Arrow twin cans (baffles removed) instead of the 3-1 Arrow (commonly referred to as the "lowboy")...it is loud and proud with no sewing machines present!!!

Of course, the 3-1 is like a shorty. Would love to hear yours with the baffles removed! Btw, what's the difference between the new funny headlight ST3R and yours?

Hmm...I don't know as I haven't seen the new lights in person....I think the only difference is the shape as they are not HID or anything. If I was in the states I would def. make you a video...as it stands now I won't get to see her until July
