My gf uses it to remove her nail polish. But seriously, I don't know how well it works. I know that it evaporates very quickly and it doesan a great job getting goo d sticky junk off of non-plastic surfaces. It melts plastics and foam. In the engine, it may help clean some of the junk, but I wouldn't test it in my new $43,000 car.

I have used it in my chevy truck but would never put it in my BMW... you don't need additives.
