I am about to do this, but all in anthracite. What material did you use? I hope Alcantara UV treated, and not anything thing else or else it may fade

Definitely dig the shift boot.

Not so much on the e-brake. Looks like it almost clashes.

I would cost about $1000 but that would include all the pillars as well.

I did not want black because then I would have to change the color of all the plastic,

You can paint the plastic parts with a special paint by Krylon.

I know all about that paint, plus stuff that is even better like SEM. Nothing is as good as original. That paint always chips and scrapes off no matter how well it is applied. I would never do it.

yeah, I think a single sratch in that would cause the pillars to chip pretty badly.

$1000... yikes.

Sure everyone has their own opinions and like what they like. There is nothing wrong with that.

They said that adding the suede on top would be too thick and it would look right or work well with the sliding piece for the sun roof. None of this really sounded right to me, but I didn't really push back because I'm still not sure if I'll do it.

Anyway, is any of this accurate? Did they have to pull off the stock fabric? Also, did they have to remove the headliner from the car and if so how did they get it out (remove a window or through the door)?

Sorry about the list of questions, but this is something I'm seriously considering and I'm just not sure what's involved.

BTW, I was planning on going to black and replacing the light plastic pieces with the black ones from the m sport package (you can get this stuff from Dan@united). I'm not sure if I would wrap the pillars though, I might just replace them with the black ones.

Oh yeah, looks great
Twin Fed,

I'm starting to think about doing this again and was hoping that you might be able to answer some of the question I posted. If you can't, no worries, but I think it would very helpful to those considering this.

No they don't have to remove the old fabric. The suede is real thin and just glues right over the headliner material. There are different kinds of suede, some with a backing and some without. You want the one without backing, it is more stretchy and takes the curves of the headliner better. The one with the backing would require seams around some areas, making it more complicated and thus more expensive. It also might look funny that way. Also the sunroof was not an issue either, the sun shade works just fine.

The headliner does have to be removed from the vehicle and yes it is through the door. Removal of a wondow is totally unnecessary.

Hope this helps!

Dave-

A top guy at my shop did it on the side for me. We are so busy at work that there was no time to do it at the shop. Hope to see you at the next meet.
