128i race cars

Figure you guys might like seeing these. A couple pictures and video from VIR yesterday where both of these were running in the CTSC race. I only got pictures of these two but there were two others also racing. The white #23 car placed 4th in ST.

The engines looked to be stock with the euro/performance intake. I'm sure they're tuned and have full catless exhaust also. They sounded pretty good in race trim!

I was surprised at seeing the BMWPI's.

Any info as to what they're doing for brakes? I asked Keith Burton via email once, and he wasn't too keen to share. Racers. Always keeping their cards close to their chests.

Awesome! I wonder how much those cars weight?
And I love that strut brace, it looks to still allow Camber adjustment. Do I also spy a damper reservoir?

The rears look OEM.

The fronts are a 2 piece on a 330i caliper carriers and 128i calipers. See older thread herefrom a year ago.

Anyone know what wheels these are??
And any ideas on the strut brace?

Yes you do, they run reservoir dampers but I don't know how much levels of adjustment. I took all my pictures post race and there wasn't any crew around to ask questions unfortunately.

Sounds about right for the brakes. The caliper looked stockish but bigger and the rotors were 2 piece.

Unsure on the wheels and strut brace, probably a custom version of the 1M style brace. They were running 225/45/17 slicks.

Also, check out the trick sway bar adjustment on the strut brace of the gray car. Nice way to make fast adjustment but still within the rules of no in-car adjustment.

Regarding brakes
A quick search has shown me that 128i brake pads and 130i brake pads are probbaly the same amount of material and dimensions.

Cool pix, Eric!

I'm friends with one of the guys who crews/does admin work for Mitchum. If anyone has questions about the cars, I can try to get more info on 'em.

Any mods to the engine would be helpful. Also, are they stock manual trannies?

My guess would be something with the oil system, like a catch can. Could also be an overflow/catch can for the trans fluid.
