M-Sport and Eibach vs. Koni STR.T
I have a 2011 128i I just picked up, it does not have a Sport Package. I am planning on doing new rear bushings as has been recommended, but I am also thinking about picking up a used M-Sport suspension and Eibach Pro-Kit springs for something a little lower than just the M-Sport suspension. The other option is the Koni STR.T 1120 that would less than $100 more expensive, but be lower(not a problem).
I want something that is a little firmer in the corners and is lower, but this is my daily driver and my wife and daughter often ride in the car so I don't want something too rough. I have an S2000 on coilovers that is my true corner carver, but I want something a little better without sacrificing much in ride quality for the BMW. Suggestions on what I should choose or another option I should look at. Thank you in advance. |

Issue with Msport is that the shocks are softer than they really should be because of runflats. It wouldn't be considered an upgrade - since plenty of here daily the cars and plan to replace the Msport suspensions to something that eliminates some of the runflat calibration. Replacing runflats to regular tires, masks this issue abit.
I have heard good things about Koni strt, but for e90 and e46. No e8x input yet, but the packaged springs are H&R which are more aggressive drop than Eibach in the front If you can source the eibach kit with dampers ( made by bilstien for eibach), you may be in better shape & they are vastly cheaper than other dampers. I think complete kit is probably comparable in cost to Koni.Strt. Maybe even Koni Strt dampers & Eibach springs? Ebay has Hartage springs for e8x cheaper than H&R or eibach, but I read on the e9x forums that hartage is just a rebranded eibach spring... Others will say to use Koni & ___ springs, or Koni FSB & Msport or BMW yellow perf springs. Ebay currenty has Vogtland springs and noname china struts on sale, but thats sketchy...( Even though i see okay reviews showing up on many forums) Lastly Keep in mind - you also need sway bars since you currently dont have sport suspension. Maybe try upgrading the sway bar bushings first, if you want to limit your spending.

The stock M-Sport dampers are too under-damped with even the stock sport springs, let alone anything stiffer/lower/aftermarket. If you're going to upgrade, upgrade.
