Code Active Exhaust Valve
Is there any way to code the 135i, exhaust flap to open at certain RPM/Throttle instead of this closing to warm the engine up faster.
What I want is to re-weld this only a quad exhaust system im getting to that it open two tips under WOT or >2500RPM. It must be possible, just wondering how easy/hard it is to do. |

I like the you are thinking... Been thinking about doing a similar thing myself.
Before you get too concerned about programming it though, I suggest you do some logging to understand its default operation. I think you might find that it pretty much operates as you want it to. Let us know your results.

From playing around with the "golf tee" trick (unplugging the wire to the solenoid valve does the same thing and is less of a hack) I found that the valve seems to be there to reduce an exhaust resonance around the 2,000 - 2,500 rpm mark (I didn't log it, I'm just going by ear). It seems as though the valve is only really closed around these engine speeds when on part throttle which means that it would be a perfect thing to add to an after market exhaust (with some additional plumbing) to reduce the annoying resonance whilst allowing the desired sound when you want it.

I have COBB AP, is there any way to code it via a COBB custom tune? I want it to be open in all throttle situations above 40% and/or 2500RPM, in other words no loud exhaust when cruising. My setup is going to be very similiar to Akrapovic's, the two inner tips will be muffled while the outer two will not be.

Maybe the aftermarket can get involved
I had a C6 Z06 and there was an aftermarket module available (Mild 2 Wild) that allowed you to select the flapper (open or close) by using a remote control fob.
The install was the removal of a fuse and replacing it with a fused transmitter that spoke to the fob. It cost around $100 and gave you open pipes on demand. http://www.nakidparts.com/id25h.html |

There are alot of options with a FOB to open and close it. But im looking for something abit more proactive. Im not sure exactly how the factory flap works and there is alot of variation as to what people say it does aswell. If someone from cobb or someone that knows coding can tell me if its possible to code this that would be great.
