Issues installing LUX V3 on 2012 125i Coupé

Hello everyone, first, cheers to Lux Angel Eyes for creating such an amazing product, got mine today and it took only a couple of weeks to get to México City.

I just want to share my experience installing the Lux V3 on my 2012 125i Coupé, because it was really hard. This is why: the problem was mainly on the drivers side. There is no room to work with, thanks to my wife (and her small hands) I was able to do it after almost 2 hours of work.

Lets be clear that my experience as a mechanic is almost ZERO, and I am sure that with some experience or help, the work could have been easier.

Ok, no more talking, here are the pictures and the result.

This is the passenger side, as you can see, the working area is limitted but can be done without issues (took me like 10 minutes)

But, on the drivers side there is simply no room:

The important thing is that IT WAS WORTH IT, my car looks amazing and I really recomend the product.

Greetings from Mexico City!

Not really, it's a huge piece connected to different other things with lots of screws...

Actually, that big box that's in the way is the air intake which isn't really hard at all removing. It would have been 1000x easier if you would have removed it!!! Congrats though and the LUX really is a great quality kit!!! Make sure the black covers are locked back into the right position on the bottom or your going to have moisture build up inside the headlight. The bottom tabs MUST be put into the holes for it to be right

I have a 2010 128i which has a little different looking air cleaner cover than yours but they both look like they can be moved the same way (rather than taking it off completely).

Here are a few pictures of how I made room to take off the driver's side back cover. There are only two bolts that need to be removed (my finger is pointing at one of them) and the flexible air cleaner hose at the other end needs to come off by slipping it off of the two notches.

Once you have the two bolts off and slid off the flexible hose, you can move the air cleaner cover enough to make it easy to remove the back cover.

Hope this helps.

+ 1 Even Shane Carwin could fit his 5XL hands in there

Thanks for the post OP. I have these on the way and it's reassuring to hear a positive review of how they look. Great shots.

Hey i just saw this thread. Ya i do know that the 1-series has almost NO room to work with and that makes doing anything headlight related very tough.

In the end, glad you get them installed and those pictures look pretty awesome!!!!!!

I'm not sure it mine is that easy to take off, my fear was to mess it up and void my warranty or something like that

Awesome thanks!

Do they match the eyebrow exactly? I don't want it to look like 2 different colours...

No, they don't, the eyebrow is not that white, but there is no much difference. Anyways it looks 100 times better than the original yellow.
