I don't get very much snow in CT either but that's not the only reason for winter tires. The summer tires turn to bricks in the cold and are pretty dangerous as they don't heat up to optimal driving temperature. Snow tires are very soft. An out of season tire will also wear much faster.

You're putting FAR too much thought into this. If I do end up getting a winter beater I will let you know about my setup.
haha yes, i have been bored at work this week.

if I go square on the 264s, would 225 work or would it be too small for the rear wheels? because any bigger than that and I don't think I can go square due to rubbing....

Get 4 225/40 Dunlop wintersport 3Ds for the stock wheels. Save up for sping. Buy a set of VMR 710s with non-run craps and you're good to go.

wouldn't that be way too stretched on the back tires?

and does anything weird happen from having staggered wheels and square tires?
