Don't do it in the rain.

No really, take your time, try to figure out the orientation of the keyed hole before you try to insert the bulb and don't forget the heat sink.

If you have the active headlights make sure you don't put the ballasts near the motors or else be prepared for headaches...

If you have adaptive headlight which turns and levels itself when you drive, make sure the ballast don't get in the way or you will have error.
This is due to the the ballast restricting the movement of your light.

Go to this page And look at post #11.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...hlight=Ballast

That's where I used a double sided tape and secured it to the cap of the headlight in that position and never had any issue with the adaptive light.

Also, when you put the cap back on, make sure you slide in the bottom tabs in first.
After you put the cap back on, give the cap a wiggle with your hand. If it feels loose in anyway, you probably didn't put it on properly and water will most likely get in.

I have the bms lights myself and they are great!

...Just make sure those dam covers get put back on 100% correctly... or your looking at $$$$ for new headlights a week later when it rains or you go to wash your car!

I am all for DIY and with BMW labor so high it makes sense to do it but DO NOT mess up those covers. Take it from me, those lights are over 2K a piece no joke.

Thanks guys! yeah i read somewhere its around $2500 for new headlights so i will really take my time. I remember taking out the headlight bulb on my golf before. I put back the cover but i know it was on properly but didnt really bother to make sure its on really good. Then after a while it started to precipitate inside the housing.

The problem is once you get moister inside the headlight... it starts to short circuit things. Inside the headlight is a circuit board. IF that gets shorted out.. it can also blow the Xenon ballast(or bulb) and/or the FW3 (footwell module). All are not cheap!!
