Update:
Car got a software update today(almost 4 hours) and I just had the dealership perform the negative battery cable recall as well. Updated software has been emailed to Salman. Evolve is extremely busy at the moment, hopefully I will have an updated version of my software by middle/end of next week. So far during these 8 months I have tried to stay as patient as possible, Salman and myself have tried a few things on the car with no success to date. I do appreciate the attention he has given me to try to make this transaction as smooth as possible, from regular emails to text messages. Hopefully this all comes together soon. |

Got my tune today.
Prior to flashing my car with the new tune, I had my typical 2 cat codes, see earlier posts for exact codes, and that was it. It ran, I drove it to school and back today without any issues. This was with my new updated factory software. Now my car will not start and I cannot recover my factory tune. This is very aggravating since this is my daily driver.

How many times have you flashed? You might have hit the limit and bricked the ECU.

According to Salman that isn't possible with this ECU.

Odd, I use Tomkinson BMW for their parts department sometimes.
Why did you have a hazmat charge for a software tune?

The miscellaneous materials & disposal cost has something to do with an EPA tax charged to the dealership which is then applied to customers in any instance a service is over $20.00. Edit: Thanks Obama.

Ohio has the same type of stupid tax. Materials tax where they can charge 8% of your total bill up to $25 to cover any towels, fluid...etc used that isn't covered during the service fee.
I feel really bad for you OP. IMO this shows the true face of Evolve. After they get your money it looks like the support drops off a cliff. |

When you look at the big picture though here I sit over 8 months later with a car that won't start and I can't upload either tune to it. All together I've spent over 1 grand to get this tune finished.

At the end of the day, OP is spending more money on top of the heavy investment and the car still isn't complete. |

Oh I agree the time sucks, and if it is Evolves fault they should compensate you, but to imply you were abandoned is a bit much.
I have a similar situation going on with my 911 seatbelt rebuild, so I feel your pain(you just want everything to work). |

Sure, it starts, but I'm not suicidal enough to drive around without seat belts.
And I'm not trying to say its the same exact situation, but merely that I understand. It may not be the daily, but it does have a limited season of operation when there is no salt on the road. Plus the time I've already lost with it is some of the best driving weather of the year.

I kid I kid. Update: Got off the phone with Salman a little bit ago, "woke up" the ecu flashed the car back to factory. I guess this does happen sometimes, but it is very rare that it actually does "fall asleep". Had to perform a reset by pulling the negative cable on the battery let it sit for 30 seconds then hook it back up. IT RUNS!!! The last map didn't let the car start, he thinks it might be something with the throttle mapping since it keeps throwing those codes. Hopefully a lot of this thread will give some trouble shooting ideas to people should they run into any of these issues when they flash their car. When this all first started happening to me I think part of my panic was that I couldn't find anything about these situations on this particular platform. A couple people on an M5 forum had issues but their solution wasn't very detailed.

Glad to hear she starts back up again. Hoping to see this resolved soon, seems that Salman is trying his best to figure it out. I think you're having one of those one in a million issues that all of us dread.
