OT --------- X Price support

Hi Crew, I would have posted this in the X5 section, but there is not many locals that post there so i thought i would try my luck here.

Having Canvassed a few dealers with regard to the immediate purchase of the X5 LCI 30d and or the Mercedes ML 350CDI.

I cannot get to many straight answers with regard to pricing from BMW, whereas Mercedes were very forthcoming. A comment today after asking for pricing from BMW "can i sell the car to you today" if not we will call you later. WTF?????

I am Just looking for round about guidance, if you don't want to post, then feel free to PM me.

I Really begrudge the whole secrecy thing surrounding car sales, it makes for a fairly negative experience in my opinion. A little more transparency would create a much better customer experience in my opinion.

In my last BMW owner survey - i suggested they create an On line No frills dealer and get customers to take delivery directly from the bonded warehouse. Imagine the cost savings that could be passed onto the consumers , creating increased demand for there products.

If you don't mind getting it interstate, give Tristan at Coastline BMW a call.

To mirror Sparoz's post, if you don't mind Newcastle, give Arthur Favos a call. I know he's been out of action in the last few months due to some surgery, but he should be all back now.

Otherwise just ask for Wayne Sharpe (General Manager) - very approachable and a hands-on guy.

It all depends on who you deal with. i wrapped up the whole deal in 30min, admittedly i only deal with one sales rep. at this dealership (trivett) and have done so with my past 4 BMWs... cant fault them.

for pricing reference, this is what i got my wife.

Feb 10 build (delivery week 1 in April)
3.0d
Sport (+20” 214’s)
Innovation ( inc top view camera & new iDrive)
Met. Paint (Black on Black)
Running Boards
Panorama Glass Roof
Extended Connectivity (useless option imo)
Corp. Package (2 Years servicing)

All up 103 d/away.

In my experince BMW will never offer anything but the RRP (minus maybe a couple of K)

You then need to counter offer, then they take that offer to the sales manger who says yes or no.

Anyone else find this?

Should be able to get 10K easy off a X5 yeah?

I let my lease company do the negotiations with the dealer for Christine. They managed to get it down 5k. They dealed direct with the Sales Manager which i guess made it easier.

I find that prestige new cars and redbook are good places to look for a price to start negotiating from

Cheers,

7-10% usually from list I have managed if the car is not in high demand, including everything ie stamp/delivery etc. Didn't get much for the 135, but I actually got more for the 125 - I did buy two cars at the same time though last. That's not including the instance where it is on deal - if that's the case you may be able to get more. I would have been able to knock of over 20k on a 335i if I had gone with that car as it was on deal (right in the middle of GFC and the car was due to hit bond in two weeks).

I have heard that X5 is roughly 17k off recently, but that could have been the current model and not the LCI. That person referred about 5 cars directly to the dealer principal so there might have been more savings that way.

With my most recent purchase, I clearly stated that I do not want to sit and negotiate inch by inch as I tell them the outcome would have been the same, it will just waste more time, and they have come down to the price to quite close to where I want it to be in the first offer.

135 Bandit - To mirror Sparoz - Give Coastline a call if you're happy to purchase interstate. They are keen to make deals happen and are very upfront.

You should be able to negotiate 10% quite easily. Pre LCI model even more so.

When i bought mine i dealt directly with general manager over the phone, deal was done within 15 minutes. I managed 12k off RRP, free first service, and $300 worth of gift vouchers.

It appears that the new LCI with the 8 speed box is not attracting to much discounting

would you swap improved 3L/100 fuel consumption for $10k --- that appears to be the price differential between the Merc and X5

get what you want, 10k is not enough to risk ending up with something you wont be happy with for the next 3 years.

Also keep in mind that the new ML should be coming out soon. I have seen spy shots of test vehicles somewhere. I at the moment am wanting to replace the company work hack X3 with either a Range Rover or the new Porsche cayenne Diesel. Maybe you should check out the new Cayenne as well

Mate - I'd still spend $10k if I knew that the car would last... I'm not a big fan of Mercs and their consistency in build qualities.

Agreed - not keen on the RR and the Porsche is just 2 ostentatious for me - A porsche should be a 2 seater only.

Funny enough, one of my friend decide to get a Porsche instead of a BMW because he thinks people wouldn't regconise it is a nice car because a Porsche is supposed to be two doors. He has some funny logic
