Just got an email saying that it's in port going through the final processes before being released. This is going to be such a painful week...that will instantly turn glorious!

Got this from my dealer a bit earlier...
"Chris, Thanks for your email. The car shows at the port and anticipated delivery to us on 12/23. I'll keep you posted. There's nothing really to do in advance as the car still isn't here. There's a only a few things to be signed along with the VA title and registration forms which won't take long."

ug...c'mon glorious week and turn glorious!!! I leave the 23rd Need it the day before

If you pick it up before the 23rd, are you going to drive it out of town? I know my dealership is closed Fri & Sat, so if it doesn't get in by Thurs, it's gonna be Sun at the earliest. So it really isn't that much longer till the 29th....who am I kidding, every min is an enternity right now!

Might have to camp out at the dealership so absolutely no time is wasted

Yeah def will be driving it out of town. Figure the trip down to Macon, GA and back will be good to help get through the 1200 break in miles It'll take forever doing less than 20 miles a day commuting to work and back if otherwise.

If you do your break in on a long trip, make sure you vary speed fairly often and go all the way up/down the RPM range frequently. Driving for an extended period at a fixed speed/rpm is about the worst thing you can do during break in. The owner's manual will have more info. You may be able to plan some back roads and city driving into the trip for proper break-in, rather than driving exclusively on the highway.

Oh i know Thanks for the reminder though With all the stupid idiots on the east coast that don't know that the left lane is for passing, it's impossible to really set cruise control for more than 5 mins at a time. And according to the manual you're not supposed to go above 4500rpms or 100mph during the break in period

haha 5 mins!? I can't go 45 secs without "that guy" in the left lane going 54 without a care in the world. "Have a left merge onto the HOV in 8 miles, probably should get over now."

The 800# has me at the port awaiting a shipping vessel, hope they're not sending it back!

Completely agree. You can track just about everything else until it actually gets to port and then it's a mystery. I keep checking my status on the website/800# for the change to "at VPC," b/c there has to be some mechanism in place that alerts the system (like a scan or computer entry) to update the status rather than just the ship's scheduled arrival time. So when the system updates, I know something is actually happening and it's not just sitting there waiting.

I haven't checked the website or the phone system in days as from what i've read they're generally a couple days behind or more. Emailing or calling your CA is the best way to get an update.

Oh yeah I know, I follow the updates I get from my CA as truth as I know how the system is delayed a few days. I'm just saying that IF the website gets updated to "at VPC," then I know something has happened and most likely that it's very close to being released to the dealer...if not already. You basically have to take the update on the website as 1-3 days old. So when it changes to "at VPC," I can almost assume that it's on its way to the dealer. The last time I went through this, my CA let me know, "it's at port - be ready to pick it up shortly," and then, "it's here." So there was a 5 or so day period where I was in the dark. I'm not sure if the CA gets any information that it's been released, so that's why I'm checking the website to gauge.

It makes sense to me I guess I'm just bored and anxious so I'm coming up with my own theories to pass the time haha.

Hurry. Up.

I emailed my CA asking to see if there were any updates...I apologized in advance for being that guy that emails so much haha. He responded there was nothing new and he'd update me as soon as it got there....

I feel like a kid with this car and it's like "NO! YOU EMAIL ME EVERY HOUR AND TELL ME WHEN IT GETS ON THE TRUCK!" *stomps foot and pouts* lol

haha me too. I apologize on just about every email. I feel really bad emailing my CA, even if it's a legit question. They've all been through this a millions times and there isn't much excitement in it for them. It's prob like working at Chuck-E-Cheese where all the kids are going nuts and the employees want to kill themselves. Ok, maybe not that bad.

My status just changed to At Prep Center. If my calculations are correct, I should be hearing something very soon!!

It did arrive in Baltimore one day ahead of schedule, so maybe it'll be a day early again and be there tomorrow. Hopefully we didn't blow our luck load somewhere in the Atlantic!

Every time I get an email I get excited...and then get pissed when it's holiday coupon ads

Heh, very good point -- what was I thinking. Especially at this time of the year, we'll be lucky to reach the speed limit, never mind maintain a constant speed. This is probably a perfect time to hit I-95 for a variable-speed break-in run!

I am at 293 miles into break-in and just had to get gas today for the first time. Long way to go at my current pace, but still having fun. These engines are remarkably fun at low rpm. Though I have to say, I am having a tough time cutting off at 4500rpm with a manual transmission -- it ambles up towards 5K pretty easily if I am not careful. And a casual merge onto an empty highway early in the morning flirts with triple digits before you know it.

Re: the tracking, the phone status does seem to revert to "at port awaiting vessel" once you're in the VPC for whatever reason. I think they do that just to screw with us.

I can offer a recent data point -- my car (Z4) arrived in Baltimore late on Nov 28, passed customs on Nov 29, and was at the VPC on Nov 30. It got delivered to the dealer 200 miles away (tidewater VA) two days later on Dec 2, and I picked it up on Dec 3. Going from ship to customer in about 4 days. That was a lot quicker than I expected. More info here:

http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showpost...46&postcount=1

(it helped me pass the time reading other people's delivery threads, so hopefully this will offer some relief from the suspense).

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement and added hope we might get our new babies a day earlier than anticipated!
