Eight Weeks - Broken In - Impressions
Well, took delivery of my 325i on 1/20/06 (built on 12/08/05) and just ticked a bit over 1,500 miles. Here's a few impressions:
Flaws: None whatsoever. The car arrived perfect and is still perfect. The gas mileage has slowly improved and is averaging 20% higher than when first delivered. I'm getting ~ 21.5 mixed, 25+ highway keeping to the Florida 70 MPH limits. It seems to deliver power more smoothly now too since it's been broken in. This is pollen season in Tampa, and everyone's car is coated with green dust. The Arctic was a good choice because it looks clean, even covered in pollen. Our dealer (Reeves in Tampa who I recommend) said they sell about 15 cars a day, with about 10 being black, 4 silver, the rest 'other'. He didn't understand why anyone in Florida would want a black car, and neither could I. I've never seen another Artic here yet so it was a great choice and I recommend it to those of you who, like me, only have time to wash a car once a week. Dislikes: The BMW carpet mats are already fraying and covered in fuzz. They were free from the dealer but they are being replaced by aftermarket mats made from a quality material rather than the cheap stuff BMW uses. I wish I got the split rear seats. They are standard on a low-end Toyota and should be on a car I paid +$37K for. But if you expect to get more than a single set of golf clubs in the trunk, you need the split rear. I ordered the Sports Package, and the handling is great, but my wife and I have literally bounced into the headliner hitting a few bump-strips here. I don't mind the rough ride but my wife wishes we left off that option. The seats on the other hand are great, as is the sports wheel. So no real regrets, more a warning if you expect the ride to settle in. I doubt it will ever get softer, at least with the stock RF's. Finally, I miss an Oil dip stick. I don't trust the computer nanny to tell me if I'm low (or high for that matter). All in all it a much nicer car than the 318 it replaced, and seems to have a better build quality.

Great write up! I agree about the Arctic, it does hold dirt nicely! Our pollen season hasn't started up here yet but will in about a month. There is a difference between my April '05 built E90 and our September '06 built E91 in terms of ride. The E91 seems smoother to me. Some of that could be due to the extra weight, but I think they tweaked the suspension too. We don't have ZSP on either car though.

+2 on the all-season mats ... I am happy to see another reaffirmation that the mileage will go up ... I'm half way through my 2nd tank and the BC is not showing anything higher than 19-ish mpg ...

nice! i have no real complaints too. agree with you on the split seats comment. my gas mileage has also gone up since breaking it in. i mostly do a mix of city and highway driving. probably more city. according to the obc, i'm getting 22.6 mpg.
