Shipping to home or airport?
I need advice on if it is best to have wheels sent to the airport for me to pick up or is it best to have them sent to my home. Obviously it costs a bit more to send to home (about $130), but for the custom clearance charges and other miscellaneous charges, are they the same regardless of if I pick them up from airport or have them sent to home? The wheels are from US.
Thanks |

Mate, definitely sent it to your door. It'll be a fixed price.
I was stung with $300-ish fees plus $300-ish customs when my wheels arrived from the US.

I let tirerack organise all the freight door to door and I liaised with Fed-Ex direct for clearing and charges etc. I provided them with a tarrif concession number and I only paid the fees that I expected $50.00 clearing fee Fed-Ex, 10% GST. Could be any happy with the savings and service. |

if you want cheaper cost, go with a local freight forwarding company and have them take care of it. they are cheaper than fedex, ups, dhl, etc.
having the package sent to the airport you would save on just delivery fee from airport to your home. |

or you could go cheaper still.
I'm sure Kmart tyre and auto have a set of 13x5.5 ausstar alloys with bobjane allrounders that would look pretty smick on a 135, plus you keep a 13 year old in a job, support the GST and maybe even get a free instant cappuchino from the Cafebar to boot.... good luck with the import, any pix on your rim choice??

Do I understand it correctly that there is no tariff if the value of the goods is less than $1000AUD? What about GST? Is that payable regardless of the value?

If your item is less than $1,000.00 AUD deliver (so that includes the freight cost) it should be exempt from addition charges i.e. duty and GST.
This is an Australian customs procedure. If over $1,000.00 AUD landed you will be up for all applicable fees, duty, GST. |
