Yeah its basically a big capacitor that zaps a bunch of power into the battery. Its crap for the battery if used often tho.

Also. My charging station appointment is today

So is this supposed to be comparable with a 1 series as far as performance? Or did they just choose the platform because it's the smallest?
Honestly guys I just don't get this as an enthusiest. Unless it's just a second car for city driving (which gets expensive and certainly reduces the enviromental advantage).

I wouldn't say comparable because its an electric car! More-so it is BMW's move to step up their game in the world of environmentally friendly eco-cars. I believe they picked the 1'er because its the smallest, less weight, and more-so a fit for such a concept.

Its a new car for 2200 down and $500 a month.

I spend about $350 in gas if I drive my merc everywhere and I dont like starting the 1er for short around town stuff. So its a no brainer for me.

Also its been 4 years since ive gotten a new car. I want to treat myself

I'd get one if it made sense and I lived in one of those cities, Throw on some VMRs, with nice tires and some LUX LEDs, pull all the decals off of it, and maybe a Spoiler.

Edit: and Window tint and Black Kidney Grills.

I posted them on page TWO of this very thread. But here they are again...

according to the ActiveE brochure I have in German...

125Kw (170 PS @4775 rpm's)
250Nm @4775 rpm's

60-100 kph = 4.5 sec
top speed = 145 kph
0-60 kph = 4.5 sec
0-100 kph = 9.0 sec

can travel 160 km on a single charge.

weighs in at: 1,800 kg

No Im not replacing the 135 with anything. I have plans for it.

The ActiveE program is just a fun opportunity for me and the car fits most of my day to day needs, as in just derping around to and from work or the store or whatever

If I need more hauling space I take my Mountaineer, and if I need more fun I take the 135

the LUX LED Angel Eyes will give you another 5 miles on a charge since they draw so much less power!!! ok Maybe not but its worth a try.

Seriously I would have loved the entire car, if not for the rims lol. I mean look at the brochure, they put pictures of the 17s on there. You don't see the 16 inch rims with the low rolling resistance tires there

those 17" alloy wheels are OPTIONAL in Germany. Perhaps BMW NA decided on only 16"s. ?

Look under: ausstattungen (left side of the spec sheet)

Standard wheels: 7J x 16 wheel style #360 with 205/55R16 tires. Square wheel/tire setup.

Optional wheels: 7J x 17 and 7.5J x 17 wheel style #370 with 205/50R17's and 225/45R17's. Mixed wheel/tire setup.

Btw... this looks to be the only option for the ActiveE.

Yeah. That's what it also says in the American brochure. Sad to say, none of the dealers I spoke with knew of this option :/

Hoping to be a future i3 owner, will be watching these cars closely. With a sub-3k expected curb weight for the i3 and a clean sheet design I expect the ActiveE to approximate how the i3 will behave from a range standpoint if it's fully loaded at all times.

Congrats, wish I was in a market to try one of these out. If anybody can make an EV not suck it's BMW.

It's a fantastic car. Power is there, car is dead silent, it's just awesome! Keep us posted on how you like it.

Here is a pic of us taking ours out for a spin the other day, parked it next to a prius, I would take the active-E over the prius ALL day
