New Battery not coded for 2 years. Should I code it now?
2008 135i
Indy replaced the battery about 2 years ago. I wasn't sure if he coded it or not, but today, I checked it using Carly and looks like it's never been recoded. and I haven't seen any issues so far. It's been 2 years now. Should I recode it now? or just leave it as it is? Thanks in advance. |

Not sure I agree with this actually, the battery is 2 years old, so it's not "new" anymore. The computer doesn't have an option for installing anything other than a brand new battery and it will treat a newly coded battery as such, this might prematurely wear out an already 2-year old battery. I'm not 100% on this, maybe someone with in-depth knowledge of the adaptive parameters for the battery draw/load can chime in.

How about coding it to a lesser amp-hour than the original rating?

I vote no Edward. I switched to lightweight batteries. I had my first coded, haven't bothered since, they all lasted the same amount of time (2yrs ish).
