ARC-8 & Star Spec 255/265 Test Fit - Success

i mounted 255/35-18 & 265/35-18 Dunlop Star Specs on my Apex ARC-8 18x8.5 et45 & 18x9.5 et62 wheels today. i had to use a 5mm spacer in the front to clear the strut, since these tires are enormous, though it looks like a 3mm spacer would have sufficed. front camber is set at -2.5 degrees (via m3 control arms and ground control camber plates). front fenders are rolled and pulled. there's some rubbing as i expected on the fender, but minor in nature. i'll bring the front camber up to -3.2 as a starting point at the track, which i'm sure will do away with the rubbing. please excuse the horribly dirty track wheels!

LOL i havethe same color siding... also you gutter drain is pointed up...they dont work like that LOL

wheels look great if you could get away with 3mm spacer up front would you need to go that much neg camber ????

if track wheels only then doesnt matter... Nice set up..

yes, the rear is a relatively conservative fit. the front is anything but conservative! my height is about 1/2" lower than stock in the front and 3/4" lower than stock in the rear.

haha! there's a downward extension missing from the gutter there... someone stepped on it so it's in the gutter hospital.

i tried a 3mm spacer and the rim protector on the tire was kissing the strut, so 5mm it is. this is all one big gray area anyway, since my front fenders aren't exactly stock, and there's some minor rubbing as it is currently. this is a daily setup, but i have a 4-mile commute, and the car gets treated like a toy, so 2.5 degrees is appropriate for me on the street. i could dial the camber back a bit, but it would probably rub worse. currently it just barely touches the fender tab on highway dips when the wheels are pointed forward. no rubbing on bumpy turns or driveway entrances so far.

Those 255s are wide. A 5mm spacer is a must. I can get away w/o a spacer on my 245 Hankooks. -3 up front will be tuck'm in

Fourtailpipes, You may not even get any rub on the the track at -2.5 camber our streets are such crap and most tracks are better. Also if it is slight you may be able to fix it at -2.5 camber, just look for the rub spot.

I also see you cut out your diffuser and did not use a screen to cover the hole. I was thinking of doing the same thing. How do you like it and do you think a screen is needed for looks?

i'm not really concerned with the rubbing. it's slight, and doesn't happen often, so it's fine in my book. as far as the diffuser, i cut it out in an effort to slightly reduce the high pressure area under the rear end. i never really considered putting a screen on it, but looks are subjective... seems like everyone is making little screens there now.

fourtailpipes, if you have the option with your camber plates, increase the amount of negative camber you're running for clearance. From personal experience, I can say that -3* is absolutely fine in terms of daily-drivability/ tire wear, as long as your toe settings are not too aggressive.
