Heads Up display
Saw this video of a heads up display working in a BMW which displays Speed and sat nav info in the glass of the windscreen projecting it up from the dashboard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSHLnxrBXik so its possible on other BMW models and compatible with the i-drive system But is it possible to retro fit one into a 1er? is there a part number for this? |

you need a special windscreen for it to work.
with time and money I am sure you can probably rig something up... might as well buy a car with one though cause I would imagine it would be very very pricey to get it to work well! |

So i found out you dont need to change the whole windshield to make it appear in the glass you can use a square of rectangular reflective window tint film, that they sell with many low budget versions that work with GPS,
this is the part number of the heads up model for the M5/M6 98739271 and here are some pictures of the unit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-M6-E60...item4603db7fa6 Its quite deep, does anyone know if there is enough void space under the dash in front of the instrument cluster on a 1er to cut a hole and slot it in ? |

I keep wondering what info I'd want to see. At an HPDE a few weeks ago a guy parked near me had a head-up display in a Z06 showing his G force. He said it helped him know how close to the limit he was in corners. I just listen to my tires squeal, but he had the same tires as mine, so I guess it really does help.
