BMW 135i vs. Audi TT

I was just curious if there was anyone who had already driven both the new Audi TT and the 135i. Impressions?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

The audi tt 3.2 is nothing to sneeze @ the cockpit is done very well. but, If you look at the price points and then the preformance the 135i blows the audi tt 3.2 out of the water IMO. Not only is the 135i at a better price point but its preformance is far superior, and both vehicles weight about the same and get about the same gas mileage.

The chip will bring hp up to about 250 and torque to around 280.. makes for a quick ~3000 lb car

TT 2.0 coupe starts at $34,800 with 200hp. I just don't see how anyone could consider it over the 135i at $34,900.

Plus the 2.0T TT is FWD. I think I read they were going to have a Quattro version this fall though.

Yeah the 2.0 is getting Quattro and a stick, which it didn't previously have (?).

Don’t do it. If you want to feel detached from the driving experience then Audi is for you. Steering is vague, haldex isn’t that great, service sucks,......I have had a few Audis. My last was an A3 3.2. never again.

For reference... There was a pretty large discussion about the 135i vs. the TT 2.0 here. there was also a Thread about the 135i versus the TTs here.

Of course, if you want an honest/balanced opinion, you're in the wrong place  If you don't then you're in the right place ... I mean look at those Audi things ... they're just VW's with wings

^^^True enough. Save yourself some cash and get a GTI.

The 135 is VASTLY superior to the TT IMO.

IMO -- it is all about priorities.

Audi TT - Stunning interior(build quality & materials), AWD, DSG(if you want it), doesn't perform as well.

BMW 135 - Better Performer, Fantastic engine, RWD

Any service related question can be negated by the servicing dealership, some are great, others - not so much.

Eh, bit of a broad statement.

Not true in terms of interior build quality. True in terms of performance.

Dont know about that. German quality is pretty close in the premium brands these days. Audi does produce a nice looking drivers console. Some think it it too busy though..dunno...preference I guess.

Well, it is the opinion of many then. Even on a BMW forum.

Pretty well known that audi interior build quality is superior. Don't get me started on the new audi nav compared to iCrap.

If you were going to buy the TT. Drive the R32 or even the S3. Both superior to the TT by far...

+1
I too had driven the TT3.2 quattro with sport package (19" wheels)... but is does not even come close to the 135i.. 135i's power delivery is phenomenal and even the suspension is far better :thumbup:

Shameless Plug: If you decide to go with the TT (which is a great car and total panty dropper) mine is for sale. The 135 is more of a performer but the TT is no slouch and gets PHENOMENAL fuel economy.

Primo - All things aside, how does your 135 compare to the TT in terms of build quality, materials used, ect...?

I feel like BMW has made some pretty good improvements over the past few years, and I'm wondering how they stand against the newer Audis. I owned a new Audi ~9 years ago and I feel like the build quality on that car was unbelievable. I sold it 2 years ago and the interior looked as good as the day I bought it.

I had a TT and it was a real head turner and I got many compliments. Also the quattro saved my ass many times in snow and rain with proper tires. It was a fast car but not a throw you back into your seat fast like the 135. The TT is a excellent highway cruiser and fun blasting thru back roads and has great gas mileage for an AWD. Audi has the best interiors in the business. Like all German cars, options will bust your budget. If you can afford it take a look at the A5 which is my favorite Audi right now. I was planning to get an A5 after my TT but I was thinking of going back to BMW again once I saw the 1 series. Also saving $10000 or more on the 1 series made me look even harder.:roundel:
