Ilikebmxbikes - WOW! You have had a banner year! Your 1 is Top-Shelf and congrats on all of the sponsors -- that is awesome! I wish I had your contacts.
Great thread, took me a couple hours but I got through all 29 pages! Been insanely busy (only managed 1 vacation day in 2013) and 2014 looks like it is going to be just as crazy. I'm starting to save up to finish my 1M conversion and researching what all I'll need to complete the rear conversion. Definitely interested in your S65 swap, so take good notes. I just may need to make the Philly-to-SoCal trip once you blaze that trail and iron out all those kinks to get that done to mine as well. |

The rear end conversion isnt too bad parts wise but the labor is more intensive on the rear quarters. Venom and I had rear quarters custom made but some have had the entire 1M panels grafted on ( tony135i and mybad135i) but Uberschnell is taking a hybrid approach which I think is probably the easiest. He is taking the 1m panels and cutting off just the rear arches and welding them onto the 135i rear quarters. This probably would have made my life a lot easier. Here are some photos of the S65 from when we were ripping it out of the plastic. We still have to inventory it all and verify we have everything we need. Then the guys will build the S65 ( Rod Bearings, Pully, Plugs and other basics) then dismantle the front of the car to rails and begin the swap. Im very fortunate to have the guys at Performance Technic doing the work. Three BMW Master Techs, all of them perfectionists and true enthusiasts, will be taking on the project. Motor The other parts associated with the swap - Front and Rear M3 subframes complete with suspension, M3 Steering rack, Power Steering Pump, Cats, Intake, AC Compressor, M3 Diff, M3 Driveshaft, ECU, Wiring Harnesses |

Absolutely wow. You put all other builds to shame.
I cannot wait to see this in action. Any plans to supercharge it? Might as well now that it's out of the car, save on some labor :P |

I haven't given it "hours of thought" nor have I spoken to the fabricator at the shop who did my 1M front-end conversion about quotes for either approach yet, but from my layman's perspective I would think Uberschnell's hybrid approach would be less labor, but I don't know? Whichever route (entire rear quarter or hybrid) he is most comfortable doing and provide the "came that way from the factory" quality look when done will be the way I go. Will a E92 M3 instrument cluster fit inside and work in our 135's? Doesn't a stock S65 rev to 8400RPMs? The beauty of an S65 V8 is that it is a high revving V8, but everything is a compromise and with that its Achilles heel is because it is such a high revving V8 it is not a very torquey V8 (IMO anyway). Making a "stroker" out of it will provide more torque but will also reduce the top-end RPMs (won't it?) -- again everything is a compromise. Best of luck! The 1addicts "world" is watching, so provide frequent updates or post a link to a new thread if you start one for S65 conversion. Although, I think by the time you are done with your S65 135iM you could have bought a used Ferrari -- ha! |

The s65 swap is a lateral move in power for me. I will have slightly more HP with it but less torque. The car will perform much better on the track and the cooling is superior. I'm addition to the motor swap I am getting the m3 diff, m3 steering rack, full m suspension all around and will be going to full Delrin bushings and dinan monoball fronts. I will be making the s65 FBO and doing some engine mods to it. If you do 1M rear- I think uberschnells route is the best. The fabricator has the bumper and side skirts to line up the fenders and could make it perfect |

Do it!
A shop by me is doing a N54 swap into an old e30 m3 with forged pistons and a single turbo running full e85 they're hoping for 700whp.

What is the benefit in cutting the 1M arches and welding to the 135i QP? I feel like that would be just as much work but I'm also not the one doing the work haha.
