I found on my last long distance trip that 120 was were the car seemed to be happiest. Smooth, quiet, reasonably efficient, controlled, and easy.

Florida to PA via West Virginia and non I95 options. West Virginia in general is spectacular as they have extremely well maintained roads and near zero police presence(as compared to Virginia which couldn't be further from that). Couple that with a V1, Laser Interceptor laser jammers, Trapster, Legal Shield(national lawyer on retainer), and common sense.
The only real downside is our tiny gas tank.

MPH.
We don't use that silly logical metric system down here.

Between the deer fun and the subsequent dealings with the insurance company, it really had been a bit since I got to drive my car. Finally got some solid wheel time in today and man I missed it. Snow tires and the wet roads really made me want the Quaife though.

Just took a 200-mile round trip yesterday to attend a friend's Christmas party. What a great highway car. Much more composed at speed than my Focus ST was, and 29 mpg didn't hurt either.
I still don't feel the need for the 135. Glad I stuck with the simpler car.

Yes Merry Christmas you all you guys! And now since production has stop for the 1 series. Do you thing the Vuale will stick to our cars? A fully loaded 128i is hard to come by with low miles with 6mt lol. I'm holding on to this baby for a while!

i really don't see a lot of manual coupes with the sports package, the prices on those seem to be fairly high. I hope the prices come down in a few years as I might consider another one for a track car.

Help 1er family! I'm stomped. I'm looking to buy vmr vb3 wheels with tires PSS, which is almost 2600 shipped to my door. Or you guys think I would be happy with PSS tires on my stock rims and getting the bmw performance brake kit (fronts) The same price basically. I plan on going to the ring when I return from deployment!

With the vb3 I was going to run 225 in the front and 245 in the rear because of the offsets, but if I stick to stock which is et 47 all around and the front wheel is 7 inches wide and the rear is 7.5 (bmw 262) wheels I figure I could get away with maybe a 225 square setup or 235 square setup. Either PSS tires or Direzza Zll. My stockers are kind of beat the rims because the place I went to when I got my winter tires mounted scuffed my rims up. Idk maybe I could paint them oem sliver again if I prepped them right.

I definitely would get a second set of wheels before the BMW PF BBK. The ease of rotating the snow setup can't be understated, and much less wear and tear from repeated mountings.
That being said, I would focus on getting a setup that allows you to run a square setup. Given our powerband, this is an area where our cars can excell. I would look into a setup from APEX, who frankly offer better fitments and strength. Price should be similar. |

I wouldn't run VMR's solely because they weigh just as much as stock and are likely to bend(i've seen many examples). They're still cast wheels and they just look a little bit prettier than stock. Your best bet is getting apex's, OZ's, something substantially lighter than stock with some nice sticky tires.

We can make significant weight savings with wheels. For cast wheels I probably wouldn't stray too far from APEX for street use, but for the track there are quite a few options that are lighter still.

APEX are cast and roll forged/ring rolled, so they should definitely be a lot stronger than the cast VMR wheels. Right now I am leaning towards the roll forged 17" OZ Alleggeritas (street use only on decent NC roads). With some Conti DWS, I could drop 11 LB per wheel! The main negative I see being they are not hub-centric, but I've had OZ wheels before (Ultras) and they aged very well.

To get much better you need to significantly up the investment, as you mentioned.

Indeed I see. Enkei rpf1 came in mind and so on with the enkei Nt03 each wheel is 19lbs for a 18. They don't come in 17s. I been going on and off for wheels. I don't have the money for 700 dollar wheels a piece and we'll yeah, I would get the tires and wheel along with sensors. Shipping to APO is steep at some online wheel places. With the brakes I figured I go performace brakes because it's almost time to do pads and rotors and figured I spend the extra money and get that in the same investment and have tires that I could use too. I return to Germany in June and hopefully moving to north Carolina by august so I don't see the need for winter wheels there lol.
