Reseting the Brake Warning Light
After change the front pads and the sensor, is there something that can be done to clear the warning lights back off. I read some posts on the 335i, but doesn't seem to work on the 135i.

Got it figured out. I was thinking the odometer reset botton was the button on the lower stalk for the cruise control. Doh! Basically, put the key in ignition on, hold down the odometer reset button until the odometer display goes past a yellow triangle with exclamation point into the service menu. Can toggle through the services menu using the turn signal selection toggle, but it will probably display in red the issue needing reset first. Reset by holding down the BC button on the turn signal for a few seconds and the display will be saying reset.

Resurrecting a very old thread... and apologies for asking something dumb.
My car is showing a red front pads indicator (currently at -60miles and counting). If I try to reset the thing using the procedure outlined here, I get to the little spinning clock while holding the BC button... but the thing fails to reset. I am able to reset/adjust other indicators with this method, but the front pads won't change. If I connect my BT Scan Tool and do a Condition Based Reset, I get basically the same results (the tool errors trying to reset the front pad indicator, saying something about not being able to talk to the controller). I have no engine codes, but cleared the usual fuel pump shadow codes so long as I had the tool connected. No issues with that. What the heck?

What a necro bump haha
My rear brake warning went red and did not need a dealer anything. I just replaced the sensor and reset the warning. I will admit I reset it twice before I noticed that the brake warning on the cluster is the same as the handbrake but other than that no issues. |
