Bilstein b14 pss

Just purchased the b14 coilover system for a hair over $1000. Curious as to why no one else has purchased these for their 1ers? I've read an abundance of reviews which were all positive on other forums (vw/audi/other bmws). Bilstein dependability with a lifetime warranty but sacrificing adjustable dampening.

Anyways, I guess I'm just shocked no one has started a thread about these so I'll be the first to review them on 1addicts. Stay tuned

I run the B16 PSS10s (which has the adjustable dampening rate). I love them. Most people prefer KW V3s within that price range though (a bit stiffer from my experience). Not sure what the fixed B14s are like though, but Bilstein makes great, solid coilovers.

It's interesting almost nobody runs these on here while in Germany these are very popular. For €800 that it costs over there you can't really beat it, it's that good I've heard. However, there's this clunking noise problem - quite a lot of 1er's had to change the front dampers due to a design failure, but some have had it for a long time and never had a problem + haven't heard about it anymore lately so there's a chance it's been modified.

Good luck and tell us after some miles how it rides. I'm looking into them, too.

They're awesome. Mine have linear springs and camber plates now.
I've had the most success with Bilstein for street-friendly cars, so keep running them.

I'm very keen to hear your thoughts on the B14. Update us on comfort, ride height adjustment, handling etc. These are the coilovers I have my eyes on. They look like great bang for your buck.

I think I did a write up after I fitted my linear springs (search).
Compare them to PSS9 on '6', without the shitty adjusters.

I ordered the coilovers about two weeks ago while on backorder (no surprise there) and they are expected to ship from the distributor on 6/4/15.

Wondering if I should purchase any other suspension components like bushings or mounts and install them while I'm there? Maybe replacement parts? Car is a 2010 128i with 42,000 miles. Want to keep this car for a long time and reliability and durability mean a lot to me.

I did above. 60k km on mine. The last 10k km with the camber plates and linear springs. What do you want to know?

Still performing well? Good ride comfort and no knocking noises etc?
I understand the standard Bilstein B14 kit uses H&R progressive rate springs. Any particular reason you changed yours?

Yes, yes and yes.
The standard springs are a bit average, probably more comfortable though. I'm not big on progressive springs- don't set as well for a corner, more coils than necessary for the travel. The progressive springs felt like I was always hitting the bump stops on bad roads- the reality was that it was likely coil bound.

What do you want to do with the car?

Mine is a street only car so just looking for an improvement to the stock M-Sport dampers while maintaining ride comfort. I would like to reduce squat and dive but most importantly body roll.

My current plan is B14 with some Whiteline or AKG subframe inserts. I already have 1M front control arms.

Take a look at the B12 Pro Kit. This should meet your needs and be cheaper. That saving could be used for M3 rear subframe bushes. That along with the M3/1M swaybars would be a great street setup.

Had mine freshened up at ~105k km. Only needed seals, oil, gas.
