Please help! Installed LCI Black lines from ECS, LED not working!

Please help! Installed LCI Black lines from ECS, LED not working! Was told they were plug and play. The halogen lights are lighting up but LCDs are not under any circumstance. My 128i is a halogen non LED headlight or taillight model. But these are supposed to work.

ANYBODY know what could be wring...after $450 ECS cannot help me. Very disappointed. Thank you!

You have to do some wiring to make them work on a halogen car. There is a thread on this in the 128 section I believe. Wires have to be switched in the plug.

Is that the case? Why did ECS sell me these saying they would work? Ive read conflicting things on here saying they will work on any car, halogen or xenon.

anybody install these on a 2012-2013 halogen 128i?

Schmiedmann's web site seems to indicate that there are two different types of LCI Blacklines for the E82: 1) All models without xenon and without adaptive headlights year 03/11- -OR- 2) All models with xenon and/or adaptive headlights.

Are you sure you have the correct type of Blacklines?

Email ECS and tell them. I didn't know there was a different set for non Xenon. But the general consensus I've seen is that the black lines require Xenons and ECS should state that on their site.

You bought part #63-21-2-225-282. That's for vehicles with the Xenons.

You need part #63-21-2-225-381, like previous posters have suggested.

Interesting, because when you search for the non-Xenon part number at ECS, in brings up this link (which is obviously incorrect):

http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E82-135...h/63212225381/

Let us know what ECS says.

That sucks. I've had nothing but good experiences with ECS, so I'm sure they'll make it right.

My car came with halogen headlights and when i tried the halogen Blackline tail lights they didnt work. I got xenon tail lights and they work perfect my halogen car.

I think it depends on your year also. I saw some talk aboutit in the 128i section one time.

So interestingly enough I went into my car settings by the speedo display (non idrive) and my settings for daytime running lights, car locks ect isn't available. It used to be but has disappeared. Does this have something to do with a recent dealer software update and explain why these taillights work with some peoples cars and not others .

Im looking for somebody to give me a glimmer of hope that i dont have to take these off again, put my old ones in, ship back, then when i receive the correct ones reinstall them...

Thats your problem. You need a harness of some sort ( official part number, it can be looked up with some effort). Maybe e87 section and babybmw forums can help to do custom wiring

2008-2011 work, these are non LCI

2012 + is LCI and there are issues... simple stuff, might even be coding, but most on the e87 solved it with custom wiring. Look at e90 forums for coding LCI tails, probably the same issue

This also happened to another member, I believe he ended up selling his and re-purchasing the correct lights...

So after some research apparently 2012+ model 128i will not be plug and play with the rear LED blacklines. Looks like the set I have is correct but needs the tail wires rearranged a bit to light up the LED portion.

What Im still confused about is user options like daytime running lights being on or off no longer available to me through my dash...anybody having same or different experience with these options?

Easy to get the LCD bars working....

On the 3 wire plug, move the center wire to the unused slot...done...

The filament bulbs will still be on...paint them with hi-temp black; rough up the glass first with steel wool or fine emory...give them 2 coats...

You can code the filament bulbs off but why bother...I've had the setup for 4 month now, it works perfect...

You ONLY want the LCD bars on, trust me; if any other bulbs are on, you ruin the look...

Wouldnt it be easier to just unplug the filament bulbs?
