ok, not the best, but all I can do for now. Car is very dirty...dealer didn't wash it :iono:
rides better IMO too - I doubt very much I'll go back to stock RFT. Plus I feel much easier knowing I have a bit more rubber protecting the rim. Gill, can you guys get BMW rims?

I went with the Gill set up:
225/45/17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60 17x8" Sport Edition KM-11 called him to order on Monday, got them Wednesday morning, installed them today. Wheels look relatively nice for the cheapie option. One question I have that i couldn't find answered here is how many miles is it reasonable to expect the tread on these to last? Driving today, i felt the need to baby them. |

Generally between what temps are winter tires good until they start feeling soft??
Just trying to see if it's worth it where I am located to pick them up... we have already had some sub 30 degree nights and my traction control kicks on constantly with the stock RFT's.... definitely feels like they are getting really hard in the cold weather!

They work very well. They fall just short of the best in class but they do a fine job.

Gil,
The Blizzak LM-25s are out of stock until mid-Dec but the Dunlops SPs are still available. Would you recommend waiting for the blizzaks or are the Dunlops a comparable/better option? Would it really make a difference going with separate rims vs using my stock rims other than the hassle of continuous mounting/remounting costs? |

New rims and tires mainly eliminate the hassle/cost of switching. The performance is not worlds better if you're comparing with the same tires size to size. However, there are more aggressive snow tire options available in 17" than 18" if you're searching for the best of the best on snow/ice. Gill

I have SE A7 on my 06 330i with 225/45/17 tires on them, I know from our previous conversation that the wheel wouldn't fit due to the offset, so I was wondering if the TPMS and the tires would fit if i purchased a set of the KM 11 wheels? |

I was thinking about putting 225/45/17 Dunlop Winter Sports on my stock 135i OEM wheels 17x7's, but the SA at the dealership said it wouldn't be a good idea (no reason why), but that's what he told me. Based on everyone's comments they will fit so that shouldn't be an issue, I was thinking about selling the 225/45's and getting 205/50/17's instead (recomended by bmw)so my question is how do the 225/45/17's handle, both steering response and handling?

Dammit! Only if I read this thread BEFORE I ordered off Tire Rack. Now Gill doesn't get that reward that he deserves... maybe there's still time!
Gill, Here's my order number: 7212514. I ordered some tires yesterday. If it's not too late, maybe you can do something with that and hopefully get something good out of it. |
