DP with stock exhaust?

I've searched through five pages of without any real concrete answers to this, so I'll just come out and ask it - would I be losing out a great deal by installing a catless DP onto a stock exhaust system? I'm looking to go immediately into a more aggressive tune once it warms up outside and I can get some PSSs on the corners, but I want to get the proper supporting mods in place first (already have the intake; will have a catch can/charge pipe in 2.5 weeks). I'm well aware of the CEL issues of going catless and could care less - the EPA can kiss my ass.

While I'd love to get all those amazing sounding crackles and burbles coming through more clearly, I'm just not ready for the full volume boost of an axle-back ATM, and my car already has aftermarket tips (previous owner) so it has a subtle but healthy boost past idle to begin with. Is aftermarket DP+mids and then stock past that doable/viable? I'm still doing my research into the exhaust part of modding the N54, so please pardon any mis-used terms, etc.

It will be slightly louder. I did it on my e92 and most people couldn't notice except for the more pronounced noise of turbo spool through the exhaust. On my 135i I deleted the mid cats and resonators and 2500 to 3500 was rasp city. I doubt it would be that way with stock mid pipes though.

So the whole system, more or less in terms of what someone would realistically replace is DP -> mids -> "axle-back"?

I would assume the gains from adding any AM DP would be slightly negated with a stock exhaust in back of it, but would it still serve it's purpose in terms of helping the extra boost from the tune get put to good use? In other words, would the stock exhaust choke the DPs gains much?

The extra turbo spooling noise would be heavenly - the BMS DCI doesn't seem to have made a whole lot of difference yet in terms of sound, but I haven't been driving much with windows open.

You won't lose any performance

Keeping stock mids and axle back, they are mainly for sound/slight weight reduction.

That's what I wanted to hear, thanks!

The only time backpressure might come into play would be once I get into the huge boost down the line, yeah?

Your car is turbocharged, you don't need "back pressure" at all. Hell, the most effective exhaust would theoretically be a dump after the downpipes. Upgraded DP's are where 90% of the gains from an exhaust on a turbo car is made, so go for it!

Looks like a DP with a 2.5" flange it is!
