You will need to find a constant +12v power source. Not a switched one.

Looks like he wants to know where to get the constant 12v from.

I would take a wire back to the battery.

OP can you post some pictures of the install if any? Also what errors did you get?

OP, can u describe when does it reset? I think Dackelone has the right idea of a constant 12v. I wouldn't go straight for the battery since it might be always on instead use a blade ATM fuse tap on a 12V constant so that the unit is only on when you place the key in, this way you could still have it on even when the car's not running and completely off when keys out.

run a wire to the battery in the bottom compartment in the trunk for constant 12v.

Also, place an in line fuse for good measure.

this man has the correct answer. you just need to run a lead from the battery.

Critical Non-Concur with that advice.

Only run a line directly off the battery if your willing to wake up each morning to the message "increased battery discharge".

With something like this I would have it installed professionally so they can find the proper constant 12v line and if there are electrical problems with the car down the road you can return it to the installer.

You preferred the jeep system of not telling you and just letting you discover a dead battery one day?

Nope, but it was a diesel and didn't need a battery to run. I went on an off-roading trip to PA about 250 miles away and the battery died halfway through the last day on the trail, i put in a buddys battery, started it and then took his out and put mine back in. Just didn't turn it off for the rest of the day until we stopped for food, then we did the same thing and i drove it all the way home while listening to the radio. Funny story that you just reminded me of. I would say i could live without it saying it, i drive mine very frequently and i now replace my battery before it fails so i'm not dead in the water.

Certainly makes it a bit better. I know on my buddy's Hummer 1 it was a constant issue. When we built up his FJ we popped in a secondary Yellow Top on a circuit that wouldn't allow it to be drained ever and acted as a backup to the first if it got drained.

Winsome, Fuse 38 or fuse 40 is constant 12v (on Euro version)

Did you lose the alerts (seatbelts, handbrake etc ?)

Don't you have a volt/ohm meter to check which fuse blades have constant +12v and which do not. ? IF you don't have a VOM you really should not be installing this yourself.
