Iphone 3gs cradle

Does anyone know if the 3gs cradle does more than just charge, ie can you access the playlists and play your music via idrive?

I've found that the bmw Y cable loses too much sound quality due to the analog connection to the aux port.

USB thumbdrives with high quality encoding sound the best so far however theyre quite cumbersome if you want to change playlists or add music, and the music takes +10 minutes to load before the playlists become available. Only about 2000 songs on the drive...

Have you tried connecting your iPhone through the USB port?

I don't have iDrive, but the system works very well for me. Simply plug in my iPod and can use it through my head unit, selecting everything i want.

I assume it would come up on your iDrive if you simply connected it through the USB plug.

The iPhone cradle doesn't let you access your music. I think you need to order an option (6NF?)and part with more money if you want to access your music. Basically the iPhone cradle is a $130 charger interface.............

+ 1

The 6NF option was never available for Aussie spec cars as an option and it cannot be retrofitted either.

The S06FN Option is called Extended connectivity of the music player in the mobile phone and is available in Australia. I have this fitted to my 2010 125i Convertible.

The cradle charges the iPhone and provides control of the iPod function via the radio head unit or iDrive.
