There were a couple of 135s at Eastern Creek on Saturday. Anyone from here? I hope not, because my mate Tommy managed to trounce both of them and he was "only" in a MINI Cooper S.

You are a bit harsh Guran . I was the second 135 (not the one in the video).
In my defense I only got 2 laps - we found a hole in a new aftermarket intercooler - which was a bit frustrating . The car would go into limp every time I went down the straight (WOT 4th gear) with a 30fe code. I thought 1:56 was not too bad for a normally asparated 135i!!!

Sorry to hear about your car problems mate. I hope you have them sorted soon. I should have put a few of these in my post. Not having a go - just a bit of light-hearted fun to stir the pot. Also, Tommy is a very experienced driver and definitely knows how to get the best from his car on a race track.

The driver of the 135i needs to spend a alot more time doing track days and getting advice on lines and braking. something about a greasy stick and a dogs ass comes to mind. the lines he took were just horrible, and he was braking very early. however it shows how fast the 135i is when its driven as bad as that. also the driver was not taking turn 1 quick enough, its hard to take quick as its scary as hell, especially with no insurance or roll bars your day can turn to shit pretty quick. the mini cooper was taking perfect lines through every corner but getting punished on the straights.

Sure is! Especially with a cold air intake, like on this car. I loved that sound in mine. Highly addictive.

maybe i was a bit harsh and sounded like a wanker but i have driven those same lines myself lol, and i know what its like. the driver of the 135i needs to at least learn the lines and then he will be a shitload quicker, and thats the really easy part, he's obviously got the nuts, he just needs to do a track day with an instructor. personally i don't consider myself ready to drive in anything competitive, i want to do at least another 5 track days as you learn heaps every time. But don't take to much notice of me i am one of those guys who does something for 5 minutes and thinks he knows everything. |
