Your experience sounds like the service desk at Bruce Lynton BMW at Southport on the Gold Coast. The sales team there were fantastic but the service department is terrible. I bought one of my cars from there recently but I will never go back there after having to deal with their service department.
The 2 chaps running the show in the service department are Peter Soulway and Peter **** and they are extremely rude and unhelpful. I've had to speak to them on 3 occasions and each time they were worse than the last - speaking over me, arguing with me, putting me on hold, refusing to do work on my car!!??? He also said "Look I know more about BMW's than you ever will I've already been working here for 5 years..." or something along those lines. Very disappointed with Bruce Lynton Service department on the Gold Coast especially considering i've had pretty good experiences with BMW Fortitude Valley, BMW Coastline in Caloundra and BMW Darra which opened up recently. |

Terrible pre sales service seems to be common but there are clearly some exceptions. At least you have the option of going elsewhere. We would have had to go interstate as we have only one dealership. I now have a total of 6 unanswered emails pre sale and one complaint email unanswered since. If we buy another BMW it will be from interstate. He even had the nerve to ask me to refer a mate who is buying an M3 to him. They seem to be delusional about the impact their poor service has.

And the part about the detailing is rubbish, its your car and how you want it is your business. I too asked mine not to do anything to my car as I would detail it myself - no arguments from them. |

Good PR--I went from the Northern Beaches to Canterbury because they looked after me despite the local dealer having sales of 4 minis and 3 bmws over the years and wanting $5000 more to keep the FAMILY RELATIONSHIP. |

i received a speeding ticket 1 mth ago. I checked the date and time, realised that i bought that demo car few days after that offend happen. But BMW Sydney told OSR that was me driving the car. Called OSR, they required me to show evidence that I am not the driving. Called BMW Syd and confirmed that wasn't me, but nothing have been done since. Went to BMW Syd today, they said will do the stat dec for me next week.

Similar experience with a salesman at BMW Melbourne on Kings Way - looks like they don't want my business with the same lack of response from both phone calls and email.

I would save/log each call. As well as each email. Then bring it up to a manager. I know your not the only one having that problem! Congrats on the car though!

Haha I'm enjoying reading this thread! BMW Sydney is about to get Jonathan P who is the dealer principle from BMW Melbourne. He is a bit of a fix it guy for BMW Australia so he has gone to fix things. He is still the head of BMW Melb as well at least in the interim. BMW Sydney has terrible customer satisfaction rating and sales result, which is why HQ has sent JP in.
For those in Melb who are struggling with your sales guy, I will introduce you to Chris Mayes and his boss David Wollcott, both incredibly good guys to deal with. I don't say that lightly as i'm a car whore (lol) who buys a couple of cars a year and subsequently I deal with many of these guys. Both Chris and David are young and incredibly approachable. Rob Graham at Kingsway as Totti mentioned is also a great guy. I bought many cars over the years from his wife until she started having babies instead. Rob, Chris and David are all true enthusiast and I like dealing with guys like that. Rob owns a M3 track car (coincidentally Andrew at southern BM also looks after his track car) and David was an Engineer with BMW Germany before taking on a Marketing role with BMW Australia and now the sales manager role at BMW Melbourne. Only thing is he is English but we won't hold that against him lol. (sorry David if you are ever reading this!) |

My mate had a similar problem. He's real gangster so with the 50 cent look, baggy jeans, big shirt, bandana. Goes in and lookin at the cars, some salesman goes up to him, asking what my mate's after, mate says he's just looking around at the moment and will get to him when he see's something he likes. Asked my mate HOW MUCH MONEY WAS IN HIS BANK.
Straight up the salesman says to my mate that he would be better off looking at the cars online on the internet rather than coming in here and wasting his time. Straight up my mate goes to the bank pulls out 50K for a 320D, goes up to the salesman says he wants the showroom 320D then and there and wants another salesperson help him with purchasing! Boy did that guy feel small. Goes to show you that you can't judge a book by it's cover! |
