All on is way too intrusive in my opinion and on occation have found it more of a hazard when you need the power to avoid an issue and the squirrels are all asleep. Use MDM most of the time for day to day driving and always all off on the track (MDM strips away too much power).

It's important to learn how to drive the car not to depend on it driving for you. I've been instructing for the club for a long time and see way too many people relying on their cars to keep them safe. Track time is the best opportunity to really learn car control.

I never drive with all nanies on, it is way too intrusive. MDM On 90% all off 10%..
I find MDM bit too conservative in the dry, just perfect when it s wet. But in the wet just be carefull it won t do much for you.

No nannies ever... I think the DSC on this M is way more intrusive than it was on the 135. IDK if its actually true or just in my head but I dont remember it "working" so much in my 135

I wanna add that Ive been driving a more powerful car with a V10 that has no traction control/ABS/etc etc for over 15 years. So I am used to it.

I think of MDM and DSC off as learning tools to explore the limits of a car/help me improve as a driver. I do wish MDM allowed a little more sideways action before intervening. It feels pretty intrusive, but I have more to learn before doing any spirited driving with full DSC off. "MDM+" would be awesome.

On my Cooper Works Mini I was able to install a very inexpesive electronic circuit board (Ian's Auto-up) that switched the DSC from default on to default off (along with a few other goodies). It was one of the best upgrades I made. Does anyone know if such a thing is possible for the 1M?

Always DSC Off and brain activated. MDM when wet and raiding fast.
That's why I'm thinking at a way to have it OFF from default and ON at request

Consider Chile too, we are also in South Cone enjoying summer here and we have a nice big guest room and a 1M in the garage. All you need to do is give free lessons, don't even worry, I am a quick learner

It depends on the mood. We have nice sticky roads. M mode mostly always on for the nice response in throttle. The DSC is kicking in more often as the tyres wear out. Dsc never off as I don't trust my own driving skills. MDM on when some small driving around corners is required. So far the car is pretty controllable compared to my old Australian V8 which had no traction what so ever in the first 2 gears.

It may sound strange but I usually turn it of when we have snow, that's about the only way to get moving from a standtill in snow (in 2nd gear) without the constant stop/start when the nannies cut in...

I keep the nanny mode engaged most of the time, just in case I try to test the laws of physics. More so now that I have Blizzaks on the car and the traction control kicks in under moderate acceleration. I want to save those tires.

The rules change when autocrossing. Everything is off (the full five second hold) and the M button on.

I do hit the M button if I am too lazy to shift and want to get around slower traffic.

If I'm on the highway or it's raining out I leave everything turned on. If I'm cruising around town I'm almost always in MDM + M button. I never turn DSC all the way off though.
