Take the car! You will probably damage the bumper yourself in a couple of yaears and have it replaced again. Just have them use a BMW authorized body shop, if you can. If not, most can match it. Take the car!

Ok, just to play devil's advocate here...
just kidding. BUY IT. See if you can wrangle an extended warranty out if it, but do not pass on the car. That would be like sending Adriana Lima home because she showed up with a scuffed shoe. |

As long as the frame or sub frame aren't swayed in any way you should be fine just replacing the damaged body parts, in this case the front bumper cover. The car will drive exactly the same.
Most manufacturers (not sure about BMW) actually paint the bumper covers and other plastic parts of the car separately from the rest of the body panels. This means that the bumper covers are pretty much never a 100% perfect match to the body color of the metal panels. You maybe be able to use this as an opportunity to get the front bumper cover replaced AND the front end of the car blended to give a better match. |

Thanks for the advice!
Based on all your comments, I will be branded a fool if I pass up on the 1M, so I am going to buy the car.
Unfortunately, I won't get a chance to drive the car before it is fixed, as it's already in the body shop. I probably would not have even posted this thread had I driven it first! I will keep you all posted. Mahalo! |

Are you NUTS? It's a PLASTIC part that can be repaired or replaced. heck.. you could buy the car and park it in a supermarket lot tomorrow and have it suffer the same damage! Would you put it for sale then???? If you haven't lost your spot already to someont that actually WANTS a 1M.. ... you should have. |

Oh no, you shouldn't buy that car! The bumper is such a critical part of it, having a brand new bumper fitted on a brand new car is sure going to affect dramatically the way the car handles and accelerates! I mean, it's a well known fact that bumpers are NOT designed to be hit and replaced without permanently ruining the rest of the car! And especially since you're absolutely overpaying for a 1M when buying it at MSRP, there's tons of unmolested pristine example with the original bumper laying about the floors of dealerships all over the country, you should be able to get one of them at $5 to $15k below MSRP without a problem at all! </sarcasm> |

In phonetics 1M = wann'em. You're on the brink of got'em.
If it's only the bumper, then don't miss out on securing that mean motoring joy generator. Drive it and you'll know why it's a keeper. |

Dude! Buy the f***ing car!!! Let me guess, you probably drive a Scion?
You'll never have a car this cool again, unless you had a GT3 RS or a Turbo S Edition 918.
