well, not a 1, but on a 335xi it's around 27 for the daily commute, mostly highway. The 335xi has 25k miles on it, hoping for some similar numbers on the 135.

I don't believe anyone will average 27 mpg from the 135i. The range will be mid-upper teens to low-mid twenties for almost everyone.

I'm almost at 18 average, but I don't have an ultra light right foot.

Right now im at 15 mpg :iono:. I really do not redline too much, so I dont understand this. During the break in period I think I was getting 20 or 19 mpg. Also I get around 19 or 20 mpg on the highway going between 80 to 90 mph.

At only 250 miles on my 135, I'm getting 19 mpg in mostly city driving.

Why would the 335i get better mileage then a 135i? Same engine and the 135i is lighter...

4600 miles, overall 24.5. Nine miles of country roads from my avocation as a rowing coach, forty-five miles from our cultural life in Cincinnati and our city pad in Covington, KY. (The trip to town involves 19 miles of delicious twisties and the remainder on I-74 and I-75.) I drive the country roads for fun, including quite a few corners with lower gears and appropriate revs, do the freeway at around 75 by the rev counter.

I think the good mileage results partly from discipline in town driving. One of the great luxuries of a car like the 135i is the abundance of power that makes WOT starts unnecessary. Fairly short shifts and modest throttle result in getaways more than fast enough for the real world. Sure, the guy in the Pontiac G6 gets to tell his GF he "blew off a BMW," but he'll pay at the pump. (Yes, I've read the threads arguing that fuel costs ought to be of relatively little concern to the demographic that drives BMWs. Still, $50 to fill a small tank might give some owners pause.)

did you know statistics show on average for every 5mph you drive over 60mph your gas mileage will start going down...wouldnt complain about milage not saying you shouldnt drive how you want

I've done 1000 miles, almost all urban (stop-start London traffic) and my economy is 25mpg. I would hardly describe myself as an economic driver, I've been enjoying the turbos too much

I think part of why my figure's quite respectable is we use 97 octane petrol here...which I believe is higher than in the US (correct me if I'm wrong)

128i MT Cv with 730 miles. Varied break-in including traffic, 80 mph cruising, relaxed back roads & spirited mountain driving - 24 measured mpg on 93 octane, with the OBC surprising me with it's 98%+ accuracy.

The octane rating won't make any noticeable difference in our fuel economy. The RON 97 rating in Europe is equivalent to R+M/2 93 in the US and Canada.

The Imperial gallon is a bit bigger than a US gallon. 25 mpg works out to 20.8. I've been getting about 17 in the city which seems great for that much power.

I have asked this before from comparison tests and have been told it is probably due to different coeffiecient drag on the 1. Damn our Pot Bellied Pig.

If I were in your shoes I would demand the dealer inspect the situation.

I the beginning of my ED I was getting just over 22. As I started getting more comfortable driving fast on the Autobahn and started doing more Autobahn driving I noticed this start to plummet quickly. When I dropped of the car it had 1499 miles and just under 21. While driving in the 120-130 range it would report mileage under 10 mpg.

Thanks for the info about petrol and gallons fellas, I didn't know that. Perhaps my view was clouded by Clarkson once describing American petrol as "watered down washing up liquid"!

If it's American,Clarkson will find a way to knock it - justified or not.
