WARNING!! Pre Owned 1Ms for sale

This is just a thought that occured but you know how on most of the reviews they mention that in order to drive this car hard, you must be an advanced driver?

I won't be surprised if a few of these cars ended up on the track with some newbie and the rear end lost it and they hit the wall or something. Even possible in the street. Then they go ahead and repaint and put the car up for sale immediately. Carfax has not had time to report it yet if even report it at all.

Main point, when you see a pre owned, proceed with caution...

Reading about the car it all reviews state that this car is not forgiving with the traction off. You better know what you are doing...

Thats a given with all used cars, even more so with performance-oriented cars. You always proceed with caution when seeking anything used.

If you are going to spend the money on a 1M, then you should spend a few extra bucks on a full Carfax report.

I already had a rim rash and a bumper scratch repaired. It won't affect my re-sale at all. Namely because I have zero interest in ever selling this car.

Carfax is a joke. Dealers use it to sell cars they know have been damaged but don't show up on Carfax. The pros who buy high-dollar cars to rebuild and sell know how to keep them off Carfax.

Or the police department, but yes.
Carfax is a tool to use when buying a vehicle, but all that carfax does (as far as I know) is obtain public records from police reports and the DMV.

I would be surprised to find that any insurance company reports to carfax. I can't imagine that any insurance company would sell information on their customers claims/vehicles due to privacy issues.

I do agree and in any case when purchasing a car (especially and M) you should really proceed with caution, who knows how the guy before drove that thing or what damage has been done.

If someone is selling this car after 300-1500 miles right away, look closer...

Same goes for the Carfax deal. All Carfax does is tell you to take a closer look.

Nothing is guaranteed.

I recently sold a car, non BMW, before I got my 1M. The Carfax did not report the very minor accident that went through insurance and fully repaired. Made full disclosure to the buyer, but it's disturbing what didn't show up in the Carfax after 4 years of ownership.

I pulled a car fax on my 2002 WRX wagon before selling it. I was amazed at the information there. Every oil change, service, warranty work from the dealer and even local and national service shops like Midas. I never had an accident so obviously that wasn't on there, but it was a little scary how much detail was there. Helped me sell the car for more.

After reading the title I was expecting to see at least 2-3 (bad) bondo jobs.

See my post # 12. Carfax isn't GOD. It's a databse that's only as good as the information entered in it.

Paraphrasing here but one of the early reviews I read basically stated rain + traction control off = BAD IDEA!

To put it into perspective I never worry too much when its raining and I'm driving my 128i

Does that make this a safe DD for up here in Canada?
Can only imagine what happens in the snow.
