Are we over Carbon Fiber?
I have a LeMans Blue 135is with CF interior -- saw this car (from a post by fellow member 3002 tii here) and thought man that looks pretty good --
https://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d...psf3f7xfsj.jpg Don't think I'd want the spoiler, but the CF diffuser and blacklines looks pretttty prettttty good. Does it look cheap/ricey though? I can't tell with CF anymore, so many people overdo it, or overdo it with garbage ebay stuff. However I think it could look really nice especially matching the interior. I gotta find that license plate frame too, mine covers the garden state part. 3002 if you see this, I want to copy your car, sorry! |

Carbon is stupid unless you want it for performance.

Looks fine IMO. Now if he had a CF Roundel/model designation/shark fin, etc., I would want to puke. It's tasteful without going overboard and no one other than a BMW enthusiast would know blacklines if they saw them.
I don't know why, but I liken it to perfume. A little makes you smell elegant. If I can follow where you walked 5 minutes later from your scent trail...you might smell like a ho. |

Re the CF lip, I can see how it might look overwhelming from the back if you have a diffuser but I think darker cars pull it off the best. On something like AW, I’d prefer the the stock trunk lip. End of day it’s your money so who cares what others think! I have some some big stuff planned for my M roadster and hoping it’ll look just as good as the old 135is |

It's just really a matter of what you like. I'm personally not a fan of carbon fiber on much of anything this side of a supercar, inside or out. If you like carbon fiber, the diffuser probably makes sense to add.

It's fine and dandy if you would like to shave a few 10ths from your lap time, but for a street car, it just smacks of try-hard. But whatever floats your boat mate, it's your 1er, what you want is the right decision.

CF hood/trunk/roof for weight savings? Yes. Paint it. CF anything else? Meh. I've never been a fan but then again that's probably obvious from my car.

I guess it comes down to taste and preference. It has minimal value on a street car, but can look cool.
I like it on my motorcycle.

Who cares what others think. You do you.
With that said, just be aware if your car spends a lot of time out in the sun, that nice looking carbon is going to turn to crap with discoloration over time. The only carbon I've done has been on my motorcycles. And they were done out of necessity. My 848 didn't come with a rear hugger from the factory. Ducati offered it up as a carbon fiber add on. I chose an aftermarket product and chose to paint it. The reason being the only other carbon I have on the bike are the exhaust tips on the dual Akra slip ons. So I decided to just match the rear hugger with the front fender. My painter agreed with my decision. My other bike is a ZX-10R and I inadvertently damaged the rear hugger. Because the bike is 15 years old, Kawi stopped making the stock rear hugger. Tried Fleabay to find a used one. No dice....at least one that was in good condition. Ended up finding a carbon rear hugger. I then decided to replace the front fender with a carbon one from the same vendor to have some sort of cohesiveness. May just end up painting both pieces but it's low on my priority list at the moment. |

Blacklines, carbon deck lid and diffuser is how the m1 should've come. Go to your local dealership and look at all the M cars. They're covered in carbon! It looks soo good.
It is all personal preference, I just love the subtle detail it can add to your car. Carbon doesn't fade easily, unless it's shitty quality. Take care of your carbon and it will live long! |

I like carbon fiber, but feel it should always be painted when used on the exterior of a car, with the exception of the roof.
I love it for interior trim. My Audi S4 had the full carbon fiber interior package and it was excellent. I should've bought the BMW Performance carbon fiber trim for my 135i, but I could never get over the cost. I also enjoy the contrast of my hexagonal aluminum in the black interior. |

Doesn't matter what I think. Mr. BetaLink says it's here to stay.

High depth gloss proper 2x2 weave is the only one that looks good if used with the right color. That NRW hexagonal stuff is cool tech but, wow it looks cheap.

If you look n the cosmetic section, you will see better pics (I think) from the BMW forum Member I bought them off of. But I did list the part numbers he used to order these from BMW. These came with $300 Carbon Covers already on them. I'm still undecided if I want to keep the covers, or go to a body matched (Alpine White) cover.
