Okay, just finished installing the Philips bulbs.
A few things: - The bulbs come in the craziest packaging I've ever seen for a lightbulb. You get bonus points just for removing them from the packaging without breaking them! The bulbs are in a plastic holder that consists of two pieces snapped together (one side for each bulb). Once you pull the two pieces apart (carefully so you don't break the completely exposed bulbs) you have to actually get each bulb out of the plastic. The bulbs are snapped into the plastic by their bases and there are three prongs on the packaging that click in around the bases to hold them in place. There isn't really an easy way to get to the back side of the prongs to pull them out of the way. I ended up just using the edge of a key to pry the main bottom prong away while I wiggle the bulb back and forth until it came free. It's definitely a pain since the bulb could easy break while doing it. - I found that just flipping back the headlight back covers enough to access the bulb (as others have suggested) is definitely the way to go. I didn't have any issues with the bottom tabs lining up when trying to close the covers back. - On my passenger side bulb the wire harness to the bulb was very short. There wasn't much room to pull the wire out and connect it to the bulb before inserting the bulb in the hole. On the driver side the wire was probably three times longer and easy to maneuver. - On the passenger side there was a wire resting on the back of the bulb with a small plastic/metal connector thing on it. Almost looked like the connector should be snapped on somewhere to hold the wire in place instead of just being loose inside the housing. Not sure what the deal was with that. - On the driver side there was a lot of slack wiring inside the housing. I guess that is just how it is but compared to the passenger enclosure it seemed a little more cramped inside. It was still light outside when I installed them but I could definitely tell that the new bulb was producing a whiter light than the factory one (I compared them once I had one side done). I took a picture but in the picture they look exactly the same color. Once it gets dark I'll check them out again as I'm hoping at night they look obviously different than stock. |

I've still got the 4150K ones installed and the color temperature seems to change based on what angle you look at the car from. I had been looking at them from the side, as I come upon my car from the side and they were kind of yellowish. I looked at them headon and they were definitely more white. The only problem is I have to practically be on top of my car to unlock it from the front whereas I can be 8 feet away from the side.

I can only speak for the 4150K and 4800K bulbs, but they lose some of their "whiteness" when turning on the HID headlights. Still miles better than stock bulbs though.

Here are the 4150K bulbs on my X5. Definitely less "white" that the 4800K bulbs on the 135i. But again, worlds difference compared to OEM.

Just looked at my post on my phone and pics are upside down. But on computer they are right side up. Don't get that. Side note my my larger ring on drivers side looks barely lit. Any ideas why?

The pics are showing up, so that's not an issue. But your driver's side bulb is not in there properly. Another member had the same problem when he installed his amber PIAAs. He had to open the housing again, and reseat the bulb properly. Right now, your bulb is not in there correctly.
