M2 Cabrio?
Anyone knows if they will make it?
If they do I'll be first in line to put a deposit. Since I only drive my sports cars in summer and rarely take em to the track so I like the open top option. Coupe are lighter and more rigid, but for my uses I love having the roof down. |

I think BMW would be stupid not to build a M2 vert. That said... it will be a long time before we see one. You might be better off with a M235i vert or an M4 - to hold you over for the next three to four years. Until an M2 vert hits the streets.
PS: Do you remember this 1M tease?

This is what I am waiting for. If it's as usual, the M2 with debut in MY 2016 and the vert one year later - so maybe fall of 2016 we can get one. Or spring/summer of 2017. That's not TOO long to wait.

I doubt they will create a vert in nearly the same space as their Z3M and Z5M space. Sure they are are 2 seaters, but a M2 Vert, M235i Vert, and Z3M being at roughly the same price point is getting crowded.

I totally disagree - they have made convertibles for all of the M cars. With the X1, X3, X4, X5, X6, 1 series, 2 series, 3 series, 4 series 5 series, 6 series, 7 series, Grand touring, grand sports, etc. it isn't like it's not crowded already. They already have a M235i vert - an M2 vert is no big deal and I think a given.

I had an M235i coming from a E93 vert and went back, just missed having the open top (I live in Sunny South Florida).
My current M3 is a cpo until 11/17, so my I can wait, but the dream is to do ED for an M2 convertible in the fall of 2016 or 2017. M4 is just crazy expensive (85k), I presume the M2 vert will be 20-25k cheaper.

We are certainly in a much better position to propose an M2 Cabrio.
They did make one for the 1er M Coupe but it never made production.

Agreed - I am not usually a fan of verts but I bet the 1M made one hell of a topless German.

There is nothing like a vert...nothing...Since selling my 135i 2 years ago my DD has been a Mazda Miata 1991 that was left to our family...I can not tell you how much fun this car is and with the top down it's amazing. It's great at night as well when you can look up at the stars on a dark night...nothing better.Going forward i will alway's have a vert in the family...there just to much fun....and my dog loves it as well !!!!!!!!!

I tested the latest Z4 as I owned one for 3 years for 2009-2012 and while the last of the 3lt soft top was fun the new convertible hardtop is not the greatest and is now such an old car dating back years.
The 2015 2 convertible looks great and it will be a fun drive as well I love the soft top. You can even install BMW's tow bar for carrying bikes and a light trailer.
