Shades of the shuttle disaster. So what was the explanation for the "shop rag" that was left in the engine compartment? I take it you did not see whether the oil filler cap was on or not? Likewise, no info on your part in regard to whether the oil filter was properly tightened? Not to be a skeptic, but those O-rings are pretty substantial items. I would be very surprised if one split on its own accord. Regardless, the fact that the car was only down 1 1/2 Qs bodes well for its condition. Sounds like things worked out well in the end.
